I do professional landscape design in the greater Los Angeles area, specializing in residential landscape design. I love to design drought-tolerant, water-wise, low maintenance gardens that are practical and relaxing, and utilize Mediterranean and native plants.

We began working with Jackie in 2008 and just recently finished another major project with her. She is easy to work with, listens to our ideas and always makes excellent suggestions to create beautiful outdoor spaces. She is knowledgable and works collaboratively with all other contractors involved in the project, and always keeps projects on track.

Jackie designed a large drought tolerant landscape for my front yard. She was very generous with the time she spent sharing her extensive and passionate knowledge about plants, reviewing many options for plant selection, identifying and drafting a design layout to fulfill my vision, and helping me with maintenance. I'm very happy with my garden and happy to recommend her!

Jackie was wonderful from beginning to end of project. First with the designs and attention to detail , and her knowledge of plants , what will work where depending on conditions. And especially her artists eye for beauty. She got all the right people together to get the project done. I think the landscape is the most important element to make a home truly beautiful. We love it and our neighbors love it. Thank you Jackie.

It is a pleaser to work with Jackie. You can tell she enjoys her work! I felt very comfortable talking back and forth with her about the plans. Her designs were very detailed and gave me a solid idea about how my front yard would look. I know I will have a yard that will look far better then anything I could have dreamed up:)

After spending many days and hours reading landscaping books and planting plants that would not look good from one year to the next we decided to do it right.On the internet we found "Ground Up Landscape and Garden Design" and called Jackie.We explained what we wanted and she put it into a plan that sounded good.Next came the drawings,in scale,with all the plant names and their best locations.There was a total of 4 drawing extra that we could take out for bids plus she made up a folder with pictures and instructions on how to care and water, which I really needed. It is almost a year since installation and we are REALLY satisfied,would recommend her services again.

I interviewed several Landscape Designers and chose From the Ground Up because Jackie listened to my ideas and designed everything I wanted in a drought tolerant landscape. Her design incorporated all of my wishes including a 'reclaimed cement walkway' and stone bench. The plants she selected complied with my impossible request of a drought tolerant garden that looked like or came close to looking like an English garden. Jackie continually followed up with details and helped supervise the landscape contractor. I am very pleased with the results of my faux English garden.

From the Ground Up helped me take advantage of the LADWP Turf Rebate program and transform my boring, water guzzling lawn, into a beautiful escape from urban life! Replacing the lawn with a combination of DG pathways, beds full of hardy and water wise California natives, and peaceful sitting areas. Jackie was so knowledgeable and after listening to our ideas, provided plenty of options and suggestions. She helped with getting quotes for drip irrigation and advised on the pros and cons of each quote. Jackie also went above and beyond to make sure that the plants we used would work in the setting, given shade and sun limitations, and thoughtfully supervised the installation. We couldn't be happier.
