WE LOVE THE ART OF INTERIOR DECORATING! Many big interior design firms prefer not to work on small projects, but it is what we love most! If you need help deciding on a style - choosing wallpaper, paint color/finish, furnishings, picking window treatments, selecting lighting or accessories - these are our talents. Even if it's only a half day consultation - we'd love to share our skills and help you transform your home. Whether it be preparing a home for sale, repurposing furniture, reimagining a room, furnishing a home for a relocating family, researching art or art placement, textiles or materials - Living Interiors has the expertise to deliver. Living Interiors' is a husband and wife interior design firm located in Novato. Owners Kathryn & Charles have clocked-up 25 years of design and renovation experience. Kathryn with a decorating flair & warm consultative skills is the creative force in decorating, and Charles as a trained architect and former Design Director for LucasFilm, brings technical rigor to the project. Kathryn is amazing to work with. I have never worked with a professional designer before and I could not have had a better experiencet! She was a great listener and really helped guide me so that I felt really confident about my choices. I was really struggling with some decisions like house flooring and in one meeting, Kathryn was able to help me make my final choice (our floors are now installed and look great!). She was incredibly responsive to my sometimes panicky requests for feedback on an item I wanted to purchase and she was decisive and clear in her recommendations. She repeatedly went above and beyond by checking in, following up, sending over additional design ideas and even becoming a friend of our family! In addition to having a great design eye, she is gracious and lovely to be around. She is the best!

As a property investor and design aficionado I know how difficult it is getting the renovation formula right. I have seen several of Living Interior's projects (London and San Rafael) and each time recognize they know exactly where to focus attention so not to under-or-over capitalize. Kathryn and Charles make smart financial decisions for the project and they have style and innovative ideas. Kathryn has a keen eye for how to put together a room with great visual impact, and to create that 'Wow!' factor as soon as you walk into a room. I highly recommend this partnership to those looking for design and renovation services with a difference.

Once again I've had the pleasure of working with Charles & Kathryn Hardeman on 3 of their projects located in Marin County. The new project exceeds their talents!! They have a unique ability to create sincerely special designs for every room in your home. Living Interiors led the renovation of my home in the redwood forest at Woodacre. I was impressed with their knowledge of lighting as it is particularly tricky to get right in a forest location - they designed both interior and landscape lighting. Elsewhere in the home their talents mixing textures and attention to scale is both remarkable and refreshing. Living Interiors transformed a tired space into a comfortable and modern home. It is a pleasure to come home now.

Stylish, communicative, professional, dedicated and straight-forward sums-up what we've experienced with the Living Interiors team. We came into contact with Living Interiors when our friends and neighbors sold their home and looked to a design service to overhaul their new property. We can't speak highly enough about the home's transformation. Once overlooked rooms have come into their own under the direction of Kathryn, and the inventiveness of Charles converting forgotten spaces into highly useable spaces is extraordinary. It has been a magical transformation and we can think of no better designers than the Living Interiors team on the job. Bravo guys!

As a real estate professional I see hundreds of beautifully presented homes every year - I also see a good deal of 'unpolished gems' ripe for renovation. Over the years I've worked on numerous property transactions with the Hardemans and what I've seen them do in turning around a home is remarkable. They have the expertise and vision to take a home to its highest level without breaking the bank in the process. They select great contractors to get the job done on time and within budget and the finishes they incorporate have a stylish-top-end look. Their understanding of how to bring-out the best in everything they touch is a tribute to their successful track record. Trained in architecture, business and construction I have a strong sense of what I want in my own home, and in an effort to 'look outside the box' my wife and I like to bounce ideas around with the Living Interiors team. With guidance from the Living Interiors partnership we've had great success incorporating new ideas in designing our family homes and development properties. Their insights and understanding of flow and color is something we find refreshing - let alone summoning the courage to knock-down walls and bring-in major change. As a designer myself I felt a little trepidation working with another designer, let alone a creative duo like Kathryn & Charles at Living Interiors. Happily after collaborating on two major property renovations, this design team shone light onto what's great about the creative world meeting and embracing the real world. These folks are amazingly clever, business minded and highly effective communicators (negotiating with local authorities is never easy - but Charles delivered on all fronts). Our joint projects are up there with the highs of my professional design career. I can't say enough about these two people and their ability to transform a space into a beautiful living experience.

I have been involved in both sides of real estate transactions with Kathryn & Charles and have seen properties before and after they worked their magic on them. Their attention to detail goes beyond the norm. There is no corner cutting with this talented design couple as they seek excellence in everything they do, yet they don't go over the top with needless spending. Research and competitive pricing puts them ahead of the game. Charles has an eye for technical and mechanical aspects of a property's build and Kathryn's sense of 'touch and feel' is exceptional. It has been an absolute pleasure working with this switched-on team - and the bonus is they're lovely people too. I highly recommend working with them!

I have a strong sense of my own decorating style but I like to 'bounce ideas around with Kathryn of Living Interiors. Her fresh insights and understanding of how to collect and show-off items is something I find extremely helpful. She is a great communicator and is an expert 'spotter' finding interesting and quirky pieces. She's put me in touch with several outlets I've used time and again. If you want style, elegance, value-for-money then the Living Interiors team is a must.
