Do NOT use this company! I had to hire a lawyer to stop him from overcharging me by thousands of dollars and remove a lien he placed on my home. Ken installed USED and DAMAGED materials without my knowledge and tried to tell me he was doing me a favor. When they broke, he tried to charge me to repair them. His contract is vague and he refused to give me a fixed and firm price, but his character references were good, so I mistakenly trusted him. No change orders were made, which means he didn't pay any attention to my budget and ending up exceeding it by 15k. That meant I had to eliminate multiple items from my project--things that are still not completed. He also tried to recoup a deposit I made to a subcontractor (at his request) who ended up cheating him out of work. He will say this whole ordeal is my fault because I approved all his work; however, Ken Tarlton was woefully negligent in performing his basic duties as a managing contractor to work within my budget, install working appliances, and communicate how each phase of the project affected my overall budget.

Ken Tarlton is a terrific builder/contractor and is very creative architecturally. I would recommend him to anyone either for new construction or a remodel...good communicator also.

Ken Tarleton has done numerous projects for us at our home in California. We live in Virginia most of the time so Ken had handled most of our renovations without us being there. He has always paid great attention to detail and provides quality workmanship. His responsiveness is superb and we totally endorse him as a contractor.

Ken Tarlton did a fantastic job building our dream home. It involved a major remodel of an older home so there were a few "surprises" along the way. Ken handled it well and was a real professional. He is also very talented and was hands on throughout the construction. He worked with our architect extremely well, which made a big difference in the final product. After two years living here, we have been able to observe the high quality of the construction and there is almost nothing we would change in the design. I worked closely with Ken Tarlton in the multi-million-dollar renovation of a home in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Tarlton Enterprises exceeded our expectations when they built our 3400 s.f. two story Hawaiian style home. It was a "Remodel" but only to avoid a new building permit. The home was started in January and we moved in to the finished 3400 s.f in August as promised by Ken. Ken was great at "Value-engineering" our home and his artistic talent was shown throughout the project. He found some oak "Hand-carved" wood panels from a concurrent job that he repurposed and turned it into a Polynesian wood surround that people still talk about today. He beat every other contractor's time line by many months and he was the only one who was able to hit our target cost per sq. feet. Other contractors fudged their numbers and Tarlton Enterprises was able to provide a realistic budget which he kept. We have continued to use Tarlton enterprises for other building projects and we would be happy to recommend to any potential client. The home turned out beautiful and it was really an easy project with Ken at the helm.
