Kona Contractors just finished a huge new deck for me. They demo’d a large 1980’s deck and made a more modern design. It turned out gorgeous. They steered me in the right direction for my finish choices and I chose a medium tone composite decking with modern horizontal metal railings with integrated lighting. Awesome crew that was super friendly as well! Great job updating with photos of progress. Can’t wait for many years of use on my beautiful deck!

The team at Kona recently completed the construction of a new raised paver patio, pergola, privacy screen and fire pit at our home. We were impressed with their responsiveness, agility and the quality of the work. Billing was clear and project timelines were generally met despite a difficult winter and one supply chain issue. This is a place I have search for a while to find through several bidding processes. Worth every penny.

If you have a small deck about a foot off the ground in need of attention, call your brother-in-law. Our job was more complicated, so we called Kona. Our deck is about 600 square feet. We have a roof over half of it that we wanted to keep. Half of our deck was an add on, built by the prior owner without a permit. It encroached on a setback. We had no documentation regarding the depth of our caissons. You get the picture! Kona Contractors worked with the City of Littleton to get approval for rebuilding our entire deck. They carefully built temporary support for our existing roof, poured new caissons, built a steel frame, replaced the support beam for our roof, and finished the entire deck in just over two weeks. The final deck looks great, and we know it is built to last because we watched every step of the build. There is no such thing as a perfect job, but Kona worked hard to address every concern we had. We would hire them again.

We have never had a bad experience with a contractor before nor have we ever provided a bad review, but because of loss of money we felt that it was important to share. We had good communication from Kona at the beginning - until we signed our contract and more accurately gave our deposit. After that, we received little to no communication, inaccurate time frames, contradictory information, and a complete disregard for our time and efforts. The first email we received from Kona after signing our contract insisted that we maintain our end of the timeline in order to keep on track - which we absolutely did,. We went to the showroom to check selections, we sent in our HOA form as per their request, and we regularly sent emails checking in. Sadly, they did not maintain their timeline at all, and skirted the issue when asked directly. We were told 7-10 business days from signing we would have architectural plans, and were urged to immediately send our forms to the HOA to keep the schedule on target. Almost a month later we still had nothing. After several attempts to figure out where we were in the timeline on their end we finally received some poor quality, inaccurate 3D renderings without any actual architectural plans. When I emailed back that same day inquiring as to the actual plans and also pointed out the inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the 3D' no one replied to me at all. Finally, a week later I emailed again asking if they really had time for our project since no one was responding and only then was I finally issued a response saying sorry we feel that way and they are sending half our deposit back - that's it, no further information or explanation. Half of our deposit went to what they say was supposedly for the time and effort on their end on the 3D renderings (which most definitely did not take more than a half an hour to put together considering the quality). All of this is extremely sad, considering if they had only been honest and upfront regarding expectations we would have happily waited for them, it was the complete non-responsiveness and dismissive emails and behaviors that led us to go with Mosaic instead. We were extremely disappointed in their lack of professionalism considering we checked reviews before agreeing to work with them, which is why I felt it important to warn others before others might also lose their deposit, as well. Beware.

Kona is a very professional company. They made the entire process seamless. They kept us very informed throughout the entire service as we had to change plans because of the weather. We will be using them again next year for the next project. Thanks again!

Hired Kona to install metal railing and spiral stairs, and to add stone to the existing columns. To save some $, I did the demo myself. Once the project got going, the team completed the work promptly. The crews were professional, polite, and cleaned up every day.

I loved working with Kona. Not only were they very thorough, every part of the project was itemized. It gave me the ability to see what i wanted and what I needed within my budget. Communication was great via their platform that allowed the project manager to leave an update at the end of every day that the project was worked on. My project involved rotting decking due to there not being a building code at the time of build to use pressure treated wood and they were able to explain every step of the process and why they were using the products they were using. My project started in February 2020 and despite some very cold days and snowy days, the team never failed to show up, despite my insistence that I thought it was not the best working conditions. I was surprised at how quickly they demolished and rebuilt two decks and an entire stone patio. It took 2.5 months for that amount of work and I'm extremely impressed. Their prices reflect the quality of their work and knowledge of what will and won't work in your space due to whatever environmental constraints there are. Highly recommend Kona!

My deck cover was well constructed and looks great. I'm enjoying it thoroughly. The project was completed quickly and on time.

Kona added a stone seat wall to our backyard patio using Sunset Stone products that looks great. Workmanship by stone mason was very good. Reasonable price and completed as promised.

Kona is an interesting company. For our project (several thousands of dollars) they let the entire project to sub-contractors. Then, Kona assigns a "Project Lead". The Lead was supposed to come out and supervise or oversee the project. He wasn't here and only by exception to pick up checks for work done to that point. Our project lead was clearly in over his head. Nothing he said turned out to be true. He did not show up for the period of time when most of the digging and cement was being poured. Yet, he attempted to charge us an extra $550. each for two loads of debris he alleged to have taken away from the site. Those loads did not happen. He admitted he was adding those loads based on prior projects. I do not recommend Kona.

We were happy with all aspects of our project with Kona Contractors.. They handled the bidding process, design, scheduling, strategic planning and problem resolution in a professional and timely matter. Brittney was great to work with. She was fantastic when it came to understanding the pricing and discussing different options. She was also very helpful when it came to designing our deck and patio. Jerry was our project manager and he had "can do" attitude. With any project there are challenges that come up along the way. Jerry was always able to come up with solutions and make sure we were happy. Once the project started, their crew showed up each morning on time and worked the entire day until the project was finished. The crew was also very respectful and professional.

I loved working with Kona contractors. They redid 2 of my decks and a back patio. The communication was great and I was informed of all things at every step of the way. They helped with design as well as colors. All the workers were kind, hard working and they completed both jobs in a very quick turn around. I highly recommend them!

We chose Kona contractors after getting very poor responses from other contractors we contacted for our project. At first Kona was not interested in doing the project, as Ryan (Kona owner) thought the architectural plans we had done were completely over engineered. When I asked him how he would do it, he presented a much simpler, but totally acceptable approach that sealed the deal for me. We had a bit of a rough start to the project due so some miscommunication, but Ryan stepped in and from that point on, the project went like clockwork. The crews were reliable, friendly and professional. The whole project was very collaborative, with the crew leads consulting me with decisions and needed modifications to plans. Having construction experience in my past, Kona was very open to having me do some of the project tasks as well such as trim installation, painting, final landscaping, and drywall repair to keep costs down. Overall, we are very pleased with the way Kona helped us achieve our vision for this project that has transformed the look of our house. I would highly recommend Kona for any project that requires attention to detail and quality workmanship.

Kona Contractors built a large patio roof for us this summer. Although there was an electrical hiccup in the beginning of the project, it was professionally handled. All the guys on our team were respectful and professional. I would definitely recommend Kona Contractors!

This company is outstanding. From start to finish, we had positive experiences all throughout. The Start: We discovered Kona Contractors at the Home and Garden Show this spring. We spoke with several yard & patio vendors there, and after talking with Kona’s rep Chris, we knew immediately that we had our contractor picked out. Very quick followup was appreciated. The Planning: Kona set up an appointment with us and Joshua came out to do an on-site patio estimate. He was prompt and professional all the way. And he was very patient with us and our learning process. As the estimating and layout process evolved, we discovered that we wanted different shaped layouts than what we asked him to measure originally. Several followup visits (and we live way out in the boondocks) and three layout sketch revisions later, we had our perfect “guitar patio” visualized in our minds. Joshua, Bryan, MeLaine (in the office) and Leighton (in Draft/Design) were SO patient in their re-visits and re-sketches until we finally got it dialed in perfectly. The Construction: Wow, these guys work HARD. Our retired neighbor watching them work even commented that these guys were “focused and hard-working”. I don’t remember the foreman’s name, but he was extremely professional and courteous, and took time to hear me out on my concerns and questions about construction and maintenance. The crew cranked out FULL productive days, kept the area clean and organized, and even did extra TLC care in covering their work before a big rainstorm hit the area. We have a summer party event scheduled and they knocked it out the park in getting the project completed WAY in advance of the event date. So we didn’t have ANY of the stress and worry of homeowners getting a project done right before a deadline. The Final Outcome: Now we’re having fun planting shrubs and flowers around the finished area. SO MANY EVENINGS we sit out there and marvel at how incredibly nice it looks and how much this patio really enhances our backyard experience. Thanks to all the top-notch people at Kona Contractors, we have a patio that we ALREADY love, and will spend many hours outside enjoying it.

Kona Contractors extended our roof over our deck. Our deck is one story up, over our walk out basement. They extended the roof over the deck to look like part of our original roof line. This required adding structural posts to carry the roof load. They obtained an approved Douglas County permit and the addition passed all structural and electrical inspections. We are extremely happy with the results. The Kona crew were very punctual every day that weather permitted work. This was done Feb/March during the extreme cold weather pattern in Colorado. The crew were so polite and personable and the communication was excellent. I would definitely recommend this contractor.

I cannot over-emphasize the difference that hiring a quality contractor like Kona makes vs going the cheap route like I did. I originally hired AJ Gale Builders in Highlands Ranch who failed to meet Douglas County code on half the deck. When I confronted them, AJ Gale walked off the job screaming, leaving me with an ‘UNSAFE’ deck. So, I hired Kona Contractors to rescue my deck that is large and elevated as much as 12 feet high in certain areas. Kona’s team was simply amazing, and given today’s crazy times with contractors, it was refreshing to see good ole fashion quality work and a great attitude. They rebuilt the entire underside of my deck including new posts, new piers, new stairs, new support beams, new flashing and leveled my deck, building it to code, and more importantly, made my deck safe and beautiful. I cannot say enough about this company. They ‘care’. Hire them. Pay a few bucks more and know your deck is done RIGHT.

I did a lot of research on Companies who specialize in outdoor Decks and Construction....I interviewed a total of five companies and received five bids for our new deck project. Ryan at Kona...by far and away provided the most detailed bid...including line item prices and several options to select from. The other big plus was that they were creative and would work with us with our budget to provide us the 'WOW" factor that we were seeking. Matt, Joel and the entire crew were totally professional and customer focused. They cleaned up after each day...and went the extra mile to finish the project just before a large family gathering. Finally, I know that every company who is successful has that one person that can make a difference for the customer. Brittany was outstanding....her on time, on target communication was invaluable in making our experience with Kona one the best we have ever had in a home construction project. I knew after the first interview that I wanted these folks to do my patio. Still, due diligence required that I interview four others. At the end we decided on Kona, they were more detailed and analytical in talking about our project. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive. Then their crew came. It was a big job requiring removal of two decks once stacked on the other and a large slab. It took five days. They were meticulous and took pride in their work. We could tell that doing a good job was important to them. Now we have a fantastic patio.

This is the third remodeling job for my town home in which I've used Kona Contractors. Every experience has been exceptional. This one was very tricky. I waited twelve years to to remodel my master bathroom suite. The original 1987 floor plan made no sense - you had to walk into the bathroom, pass the separate shower area to get to a closet that you had to reach into left and right to use. I wanted a walk in closet, and a bathroom that was beautiful and made much more sense of the space allowed. For years, no one could come up with a pan to recreate the space, while staying within my budget. Kona dd! The project began late October, 2016 and ended mid-December. Logical for so much plumbing and electrical work. The design was both beautiful and functional. Amazing tile work. The professionals were just that - caring and very professional. I have worked with several contractors over the years from small bathroom remodels to whole house remediation due to flooding. Kona Contractors and their entire crew are top notch! I can safely and happily recommend them 100%. Ryan was more than willing to rework our plans a few times to add/subtract items and helping us first form a budget and then decide what was really important to our project to stay well within the budget. Ryan also came up with some amazing ideas that really pulled the project together. Corey (our project manager) was onsite daily, took the time to explain everything to me and always followed up with an email at the end of the day. Communication is definitely Kona's strong suit and it is refreshing to work with a company who values that. If you have ever done a project, you know not everything goes smoothly the first time. The two extremely minor issues we had were addressed and rectified quickly with absolutely no hassle. The project finished ahead of schedule and under budget - two phrases you don't often hear together! We are so extremely happy with our patio/outdoor kitchen project. I am already lining up my next project and Kona will be my first call.

My wife and I worked with Ryan, Cory and Brittany at Kona to redo a previous owner's DIY gone wrong in our backyard. From start to finish, their team was attentive to detail, respectful to both our budget and vision, and great to work with. We hired Kona to take out our cement pad and replace it with a larger paver patio with pergola, trellis and stone firepit and planter box and we LOVE it. Kona worked with us on the design, making great suggestions, and let us make tweaks along the way. They finished in a very reasonable timeframe considering the constant rain in May, and provided quality products. It was also nice to work with one contractor on the several different elements. We love our patio and it is the talk of the neighborhood because it looks so great!

Even during the construction, they were willing and able to make changes as we saw what was commencing. We found Kona online in search of a contractor to replace our existing wood deck with a composite deck. What a find! We met with several contractors and were most impressed with Ryan. He took the time to really figure out what we were looking for. And Ryan was the ONLY contractor to ask us what our budget was. All of the others just figured we had as much funds as was needed to build the deck they designed. Ryan gave us a couple designs to pick from and provided a clear, detailed quote that listed everything out so that we could pick and choose which features we wanted in our deck. The team of builders was great...very professional, respectful, and paid much attention to detail. And a month after it was complete, Kona called just to see if we were 100% satisfied with the deck. I don't know about you, but I've never received a call from a contractor after a project was complete and they were paid in full. Just a bit of extra care and service that separates Kona from the rest. We got a beautiful, quality deck that we enjoy every day. I plan to use Kona on my future projects.

Ryan with Kona Contractors won my bid because he made me feel completely at ease about my master bedroom/bathroom remodel. And during the several weeks it took to complete, Ryan proved that he was the right choice. The finishes were fantastic and great quality, while always keeping the budget in mind. Last September KONA Contractors built us a beautiful new redwood deck. Our deck is the primary entrance to our backyard, so down time was crucial. They worked quickly and professionally so that we only had one day that we had to use our basement walkout to exit into the backyard. Their personnel are courteous and respectful and paid attention to detail, including cleaning up each day they were there. We are still just as pleased with our new deck as the day they finished it. We would highly recommend KONA Contractors.
