Kuni Furniture

I hired Jay with Kuni Furniture to make a matching coffee table and TV stand and was very pleased with the results. Jay paid great attention to details. These two pieces were made to last. Jay is easy to work with and I got what I asked for - even nicer than I had imagined. I would recommend him.

I hired Kuni Furniture to build some custom bookshelves in my row home in LoHi. Jay did a fantastic job. Every detail was taken into account and I can't say how happy I am with the final product. Everything was custom from the space requirements, to the dimensions that I wanted, to the stain and distressing of the wood. Best yet is my home was built in 1902 and the way that Jay installed the piece was so that it could later be taken down and did not impact the brick work. The end table Jay made was made out of Purple Heart wood and is absolutely gorgeous and beautiful. The height is perfect and the design is modern and fits perfectly in my living room.

There is not a nicer person to have working in one's home, and Jay's work is beautiful; he's not only creative and visionary but skilled and deeply invested in building lovely, quality pieces. We had the following issues that we wanted help solving: a media area in the side of our fireplace that was open to the room and was a giant mess of cables, cords and boxes; insufficient electrical outlets (he connected us with someone to help on that score while he dealt with the design and build process); a walk-in closet with insufficient storage for musical instruments and office supplies; nowhere to sit and remove winter boots....and a garage that had insufficient workspace or storage. In complete honesty: we encountered a few delays in the projects' completion, but Jay did remain in contact and kept us updated. At last, the work was finished, and we love it. Jay used an extra wooden beam that was in our garage to create a boot bench for the front door and one for our garage; we loved the garage bench so much we promoted it to the back hallway inside-- so Jay made and gave us a new bench for the garage. I'm uploading a photo of some of the pieces: note especially how the media cabinet door resembles the pie safe that we have standing next to the fireplace: it really looks amazing.
