We’re a Design-Build firm dedicated to superior design, installation & customer service. With 80+ years of combined experience our goal is to work with you in creating a beautiful outdoor living space. A licensed Landscape Architect since 1989 Ken Kushmider, owner/operator of Landscape Design Associates, has been working in the Landscaping industry for over 44 years. Skilled at creating beautiful landscaping and hardscaping, Ken has won many awards including the coveted 1st place Blue Ribbon at the annual Great Big Home and Garden Expo. Held every year in Cleveland, at the IX Center, his garden was awarded for both the design and implementation of the design as it relates to the theme. You can trust Ken to bring your dreams to reality! When I was a small child, my grandfather, a carpenter and my grandmother, a gardener would take care of me at there beautiful Connecticut home. I watched and learned, helping them do all sorts of building and gardening projects. At the age of 12 I began working for others in my community, drawing from my early lessons. Today I am a licensed Landscape Architect with a degree in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture. Today I head Landscape Design Associates Inc. teaching and building as I was taught. Landscape Design Associates is dedicated to beautiful design and exceptional customer service - we strive to make sure our projects are customized to the vision each client has for their outdoor space! We are happy to accomodate every scope of job - from simple landscaping around your home to adding a fireplace or stone patio to a pool with a new deck, bar and built in grill. We have the expertise and experience required to offer full design-build services, and we take the time required to make sure the project is done right. Our eight step process hits every detail and turns your dream into a reality. Ken was referred to my wife and I from my brother-in-law. We saw Ken's work first hand and knew he would be able to handle the scope and complexity of our project by his previous work. Our project was a complete new construction landscape and lawn installation including transforming a 5' elevated lake front sea wall. Ken responded to our initial call promptly, was always early to his planning appointments, has an elevated level of professionalism and insight into how the job should be performed correctly the first time and all the costs were written down in contract form. The work schedule was held to all the parameters that was agreed upon during the planning process. All of our changes were taken in stride and he came up with ideas and changes that made sense and improved the project without any disruption in the schedule. The final product was stunning! We have had multiple compliments and praise on the finished product by neighbors, builders and the developer. After the project was completed, all the debris and disturbed areas were cleaned and left better than he found it. As the lawn came, Ken would follow up on the progress of the growth and how the landscaping was holding up with recommendations on how to prepare for the fall/winter. Ken and his crew deserve a 6 star rating.

We contacted Ken with Landscape design associate. We reached out to other contractors with no success. We have worked with many builders and contractors for other projects. Landscape design associate came back with a complete design for our stairs on a hill to our backyard with two solutions. We selected one option and moved forward. The team could not have been more polite and nice to work with. The Carpenter is just plain awesome. We have a great looking stairs with treks hand railing and LED lights. We will be enjoying our backyard for decades to come.

In mid-September my wife I decided to enhance our backyard with a water feature. We figured since this was late in the season we would be have trouble finding a landscaper. On our fourth try we were recommended by a local supplier to contact Ken Kushmider of Landscape Design. Ken came out to our house, listened to our thoughts, took notes, and told us that this looked like an interesting job and felt the project could be definitely completed by Thanksgiving. In early October, a member of Ken’s staff measured our backyard and provided a detailed drawing of the pondless water feature. In mid-October, Ken thoroughly explained what the project would entail—the types of plantings, trees, and bushes, plus how to maintain them. He also gave us a price at this time. On Nov. 4, excavation began and trees were planted. Luckily, Mother Nature cooperated with dry, warm weather initially and everything proceeded on schedule. Last phase was installing electrical lines and lights, and this was completed on Nov. 17. In the spring, Ken’s crew will return to re-seed the lawn where needed. I have dealt with numerous landscaping companies in the past and have experienced poor scheduling, unsatisfactory follow-up, unforeseen/added costs, and shoddy results. Landscaping Design has exceeded all my expectations from project startup to completion.

Ken, Greg and their crew were incredible!! We throughly enjoyed working with Ken from the design, changes and execution! We took our time due to covid but Ken remained upbeat, understanding and helpful. The job turned out better than we imagined! I highly recommend Ken, Greg and their team!

Ken and his team helped create a wonderful stone fireplace/pizza oven/seating area under our existing pavilion. They worked around our curved patio and it turned out beautiful. He and his all of his employees were great to work with!

It was a pleasure working with Ken and the staff of Landscape Design Associates. Our goal was to expand the decking and hardscape around our existing in ground pool, add a covered porch with pillars, and bar and cook station. Prior to the beginning of the project we met often with Ken. He was very professional and detail oriented while discussing our objectives. He provided us with professional blueprints and drawings assuring us he totally grasped our concepts. Costs were presented in contract form and budget was adhered to throughout the project. The staff of Landscape Design were hard working and courteous. We always knew their objectives for the day and they were professional in addressing questions or concerns. We were always included in any discussion that impacted on the outcome. Work progressed steadily until completion of the project. The completed project more than met our expectations. Upon completion, Ken presented us with a manual that listed all of the trees and plantings included in the project as well as information regarding care and maintenance of the products. No matter how small or large your dreams, we highly recommend Ken and Landscape and Design Associates.

Ken and his team did a wonderful job building a new drainage system around my house and then disguising it as a rambling, dry riverbed of stone. He solved a long standing flooding issue with my house and I have not had a lake in my backyard since. Now it's an oasis that I enjoy though out the year. Ken listened to my wishes and designed a beautiful landscape surrounding my entire house that has received many compliments from neighbors. His team was courteous and hardworking. They also did a fabulous job replacing my existing, inadequate outdoor lighting system the next year.
