About Us

Since 1981, I have created more than 3,000 landscape designs, ranging from small residential projects to large commercial projects. No matter the scope, I tailor each project to the desires and needs of the individual client and make it a priority to solve landscape challenges quickly and effectively. Projects may involve scale-drawn master plans with hardscapes and plantings or on-site consultations using instant visualization tools. My design guidance enables you to understand the possible options available to you regarding hardscapes, structures and plantings. I approach each client's project with problem solving and space planning that considers a range of possibilities, unlike design-build firms who often promote only what they specialize in. Michael Dirr, the author of The Manual of Woody Landscape Plants, has called me “the best landscape designer in Cleveland.” I designed and produced three winter holiday shows for Cleveland Botanical Garden. I also served as project coordinator for the National Park Service’s Second Annual Historic Landscape Conference. Sharing experiences and insights with those interested in landscape design remains extremely important to me. In the past, I have taught landscape design at the Cleveland Institute of Art and have served as president of the Northern Ohio Perennials Society and The Design Network. Leslie designed all the landscaping for our new backyard and patio. This is the second time (house) that we contracted with her. I cannot overstate what a great job she does....she is able to visualize what I cannot see and every time I second guess her choice, but go with it anyway, I see that she is absolutely right!! LOVE our new backyard....not only beautiful but easy to take care of. I highly recommend Leslie.

Her talent is especially demonstrated in the Houzz photo in her projects category 'Seasonal Interest' - the first one, which shows her superb ability to blend color, form, and texture to make a magical front yard garden.

I would recommend Leslie Scott for landscaping projects of all shapes and sizes. She understands what the customer wants to achieve and makes suggestions that enhance the property. We added a stone patio and walkway to complete an exterior remodel. Her eye for color, focus, hardiness and texture integrated the old and new. We were impressed with the time allowed for completion of the project and the competitive pricing. The details were professionally managed with a work crew that we continue to use. The house is surrounded with lush plantings that we enjoy year round.

I worked with Leslie for about 4 years while I lived in Cleveland. I started working with Leslie in her yard to help maintain its beauty. I then started working with Leslie on the installation of her landscape plans for some of her clients that need help purchasing and installing a variety of plants. I learned so much while working with Leslie and her knowledge base about horticulture and her eye for design is impeccable. Leslie is very organized, detailed oriented and very personable!

Since 2008, we have used Leslie Scott Design for several significant landscaping design projects. She was prompt, dependable, easy to work with, and kept us up to date on all aspects of the project. Her prices were fair and reasonable. Leslie excels in creative landscape designs. She is collaborative and willing to listen to her customers' suggestions.. In the course of her projects for us, she redesigned our front and back yards. We have received numerous compliments on her work over the last five years. In our experience, we have never encountered a more creative and effective designer of landscapes for homes. Called Leslie Scott who had been referred to me by a friend who loved the work she did on her yard. Leslie asked me all the questions that she needed to understand what I wanted the yard used for and how much I wanted to spend. She gave me lots of suggestions and drew a map for me to see exactly where the plants and trees would be placed. Her design was both attractive and manageable. I would definitely recommend her.

Leslie came to our house to assess minor landscaping questions and provide recommendations on improvements utilizing existing plants, replacing some plants and creative new ideas. She is a seasoned professional who quickly responded with ideas utilizing iPad technology; one who understand clients' needs and what works best according to the clients' landscape environment.

Leslie helped us redesign both the front and back yards of our half acre suburban property. She designed a beautiful new patio for our back yard as well. And we have brought her back for short consultations as the garden has developed to get her advice on next steps. She is truly an expert on all things landscaping from understanding design, materials, structural elements, local plants that thrive or are finicky, developing your beds for each month and season, etc. And she is quite cost conscious, tailoring her approach to your budget and time constraints. We've been thrilled with the results and gotten so many complements on our yard through following her advice. Finally, she works fast and is a lot of fun! I just hired her again this past fall and in one hour she solved at least 10 of my garden problems, with time to spare. I'd recommend her to anyone who would like to have a more beautiful patio or yard.

Leslie Scott helped us with a landscaping project in the fall of 2012 to update our front yard. She laid out a plan to include our existing shrubs, which were worth either saving or moving, with new shrubs and grasses to complete the layout. She is very willing to work with existing plants and will suggest new plants to compliment them. This is the second time we have hired her. She is very knowledgeable about many different varieties of plants and their peculiarities in our climate. She advised us both in her personal consultations and via the internet. She is able handle a complete job or do as much or little according to a client's needs. We were very pleased with our new plantings and design and would be happy to recommend her work.

After tolerating an embarrassing backyard I for over ten years, I called on Leslie to rescue me before hosting a significant family event. I had a two-fold goal, give me a plan over stages and make the first stage possible in less than four weeks. Leslie delivered on both counts. She pulled out her paint cans and flags to help me invision what we could do, took photos of the current state, and respectfully educated me on her process. The beds went from barren to lush because we finally knew what would work, saving us time and money by avoiding trial and error. Our party was a success with many compliments on the transformation and we have a game plan for this year. Most importantly, we used our yard more in the last summer than in the combined previous five years. Ease your mind, call Leslie and enjoy your home!
