Lynn C. Johnson Associates

Lynn founded Lynn C. Johnson Associates in 1986. Once Lynn took her first horticulture class at UC Davis, she fell in love with plants. The combination of working with plants and designing outdoor spaces provided the perfect creative outlet and career opportunity for Lynn - landscape architecture. Lynn starts the conceptual design process by taking existing site plans and meeting with the client to gather the most information possible. From there, she begins with loose sketches of designs and ideas. She takes a collaborative approach and presents initial sketches to her clients - sometimes a few times - taking what they like or don't like and making changes. Once she and her client arrive at a design, Lynn finalizes the conceptual landscape plan. From there, she creates the construction documents, which may include a planting plan that specifies the quantity, size, and type of every plant, an irrigation plan, a lighting plan, a hardscape plan, construction details which can include walkways, fences, gates, pools, outdoor kitchens, patios, fireplaces; and details and specifications. Lynn will refer contractors and partake in project administration to ensure that last minute changes are made and quality is maintained. Lynn loves the creative process and the opportunity to develop spaces that have a positive effect on people. She has special training in therapeutic garden design so that she can help clients find tranquility, healing, or whatever they need in their new garden spaces. Ultimately, Lynn wants her clients to be happy and proud of their new spaces.
