Established in 1987, MBID International Inc. is North Carolina’s only interior design firm specializing in both luxury boutique hotel design and custom residential design. Our 30 years of experience working with these two distinct areas of design has allowed us to develop a unique expertise in designing interiors that are luxurious, dynamic, exclusive, and prominent, while still offering atmospheres that are accommodating, welcoming, and inviting. We design interiors for luxury and boutique hotels and homes for people who want to live a five-star lifestyle everyday. When our clients are home they want to feel like they are on vacation and when they are away they crave the comforts of home. My wife and I were so pleased to work with Mary Elizabeth and also with the results of her design. She was so helpful in sorting out our priorities and merging them into one coherent style. Mary Elizabeth was able to show us a complete concept of our project before we began and gave us options from which to choose. We were able to stay within our budget without sacrificing quality and the end product is fantastic. I can't say enough about her professionalism and commitment to excellence!

Working with Mary Elizabeth Beale was not only pleasant but also fruitful in the final product. She always handled herself in a professional manner, showing respect for my preferences and enhancing these preferences using her interior design knowledge and familiarity with current trends and products. She has a keen ability to perceive what I liked and asked questions to move closer to incorporating design choices that met my goals. She adheres to a high quality of work and demanded it from subcontractors. I never worried that details would be checked and corrected if necessary. Mary Elizabeth was always on time for meetings and met deadlines on delivering products. I am very pleased with my home and the assistance she provided. She was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her for residential interior design projects.

3rd big project with MBID. They did our Mountain Home in Monument Colorado back in 2007, our Keystone Ski-Condo in 2013, and now (currently under construction) our Golf Community (Rivers Bend TPC) home that needed oh so much of their idea's and suggestions. The ski condo was actually a bit of a flip...3 years, $75k in renovation cost and we cleared over $200k. Sold in 17 days. MBID is the only company we would consider working with. Mary Elizabeth has done the design several times in our home. Years ago our two teenage daughters wanted new rooms. One wanted an elegant room that looked like it was in a castle, the other wanted a Genie in a bottle room. Both turned out stunning, the the girls were THRILLED! In the castle room Mary Elizabeth incorporated some family antiques, and even a quilt that had been handmade by a grandmother. The other room was filled with color and sparkle. Another time she did our mother-in-law suite, using my mother-in-laws favorite treasures, combined with new colors, fabric, and pieces that tied everything together. She is by far my favorite designer. She works around what I want and pieces I love, instead of trying to talk me into throwing everything away and picking some style that is not me.

I can't say enough wonderful things about these ladies! I have completed two large projects with them and both turned out absolutely stunning! ...so much better than I could have ever imagined! They were so responsive to our tastes and desires (and budget!) -- they turned our vague words into amazingly put-together rooms. I look forward to working with them again!

Mary Elizabeth was very helpful to us in some recent interior design projects. She is a good listener and quickly assessed our needs and the type of look that we wanted. She had great suggestions for the use of our interior space, coming up with an innovative and yet very simple and workable layout of the furniture. We would never have thought of this layout ourselves. She also suggested purchases of lamps and furniture that ended up being just right for our space. I would describe us as having very particular taste and Mary Elizabeth got it all just right for us.

Commented: What is the countertop and the name?Hi Katherine! We used soapstone. Soapstone fresh from the quarry is light gray in color, but mineral oil gives it a nice rich charcoal color.
