Millboard

Doing my first millboard installation, The product is varying sizes, different measurements from one end to the other and the ends are not square, make an accurate job difficult Also some are curved like a banana. Nasty dust when cutting, not very eco I would have guess. Will avoid if I can

Fabulous to look at but two very big downsides. Firstly it is slippy and secondly it is absolutely useless if you want to pull a random board up. I understand that the hidden screws have been designed for aesthetics but I would definitely rather see the screws and have an easy way of lifting boards after installation. Unfortunately I would never recommend, as I feel it is a very costly mistake.

As a garden designer I've specified Millboard in several projects to date and really pleased with it - as are my clients. Perfect for longevity and a must for a shady area where real timber would get slippery, attract algae and rot. No chance of that with this stuff!

We installed this product under 18mths ago using the Smoked Oak on our domestic deck. We have hardly even walked on it and it is already deteriorating. The base board under the coating is yellow plastic (not as shown on websites) which is now starting to show as the coating is coming off. The deck has very light usage and the yellow is actually showing through in places that can't be walked on. There is also no coating on the ends of the boards so you see yellow where the boards are joined. One of the capping strips has sustained a small knock which chipped a piece of the coating off to expose ugly yellow plastic underneath. The profile of the board on the website shows a grey base with a thick top coat. This is NOT the case. The baseboard is ugly mustard yellow and the top coat is no thicker than spray paint. The claims made about this product being incredibly durable is just rubbish as is the product that you will be paying an exorbitant amount for, just to see it turn yellow within 18mths. Oh, and don't expect any after sales service. The guy who installed it has apparently packed up and moved away and the supplier just fobs us off. Plus if you need to remove boards for any reason its virtually impossible to do without ruining the board or at least exposing holes where the 'hidden' screws have been screwed in. The hidden screw claims are also false, some do cover over but a lot don't and certainly don't in the capping strip where deep screw holes can be seen. It sounds good and the sales pitch gives very high expectations but beware you will be paying big $$ for what is essentially spray painted plastic. Unfortunately to put a review up you have to at least give one star.....it does not even deserve that.

For us Millboard is in a whole other category compared to other decking brands. Easy to maintain, anti-slip, incredibly long lasting and highly attractive. On the times that we have installed it, clients have chosen this premium product for all of those reasons and it doesn't disappoint.
