About Us

Philip Mitropoulos is the principal of Mitropoulos Architects, a boutique residential practice started by his father in 1957 that specializes in custom single family residences in New York City Historic District and waterfront properties on Long Island. Philip grew up sailing and working on boats in Littleneck Bay in the Western Long Island Sound, which fueled his love for the water and as an architect for connecting homes to the water's edge. He works with his clients to both meet their needs and take full advantage of each home's site. Philips other passion projects include new and renovated residences for people with disabilities and special needs occupancies. Mitropoulos Architects also works with private, not for profit and government agency clients. The projects have included top quality retail stores, commercial interiors, custom residential alterations and new buildings, housing for the emotionally and mentally disabled, health related facilities, and child care centers.
