Chris Winkler is an incredible find. Definitely a 5 Star experience. I have dealt with many contractors and none of them can compare to his design expertise, horticulture knowledge, professionalism, and support. He is simply a joy to work with since he truly loves his work, besides being just a great guy. When we initially started discussing the upgrade to my existing landscape he said “I want elements in your yard to pop. I want people to say wow, look at that!” Well, that is exactly what he achieved. He took me to several nurseries to introduce me to plants that he was considering and what kind of pots he recommended. Frankly, we immediately loved the majority of what Chris recommended. We decided right then and there, Chris is the designer, so let's let him exercise his creative genius. He selected numerous, primarily drought tolerant, unique and interesting plants, plants you do not see in typical landscapes.. Some of them were 5 to 10 years old. The result was a landscape that immediately looked well established. Not the typical new landscapes that takes years to grow before looking any good. In addition, his pot selection, which included interesting small and large sizes could not have been more perfect. My wife particularly liked the Bromeliad garden in 6 large and small pots Chris located at the front door. She is constantly saying the new plants are gorgeous and that they make her feel like she is walking through a botanical garden. We also wanted to replace the existing free standing 3 tier fountain with a 3 tier stacked rock fountain we had seen in a picture we found on Houzz. To my surprise, Chris told me he and his people designed and built the fountain. What luck! After discussing the fountain with Chris, he said they would build one, but since he does not like doing the same thing over again, he would come up with an alternative design. He recommended a small rock water fall fountain with multiple bubblers that would be suitable for the available space. We said do it.. His team came in and designed, built and installed a work of art in 3 days. We were amazed at what they had created. His team is so talented and friendly. They were also quiet, worked efficiently and always left the area clean before leaving for the day. We can not say enough about Chris and his team. Chris has created a mini oasis for us that brings peace, harmony and joy into our lives. If you want an oasis of your own, and have an enjoyable experience, then you MUST hire Chris Winkler and his team.

Chris recently completed landscaping my front yard, a redo, and I couldn't recommend him more. His expertise, creative design talents, and willingness to listen, to incorporate my ideas, made for a desired outcome. His hard working crew is experienced, knowledgeable, and eager to please. Especially, appreciated by me was the great clean up "operation;" the yard was left picture perfect. Chris and his crew did a fantastic job on our landscaping. Our project consisted of updating our greenscape and installing artificial turf, and the results are beautiful. Chris is extremely knowledgeable. His design met our objectives and budget. He was able to source beautiful, healthy plants at a good price. He took me to select all the plants and accessories so there were no surprises. Installation was efficient, quiet and clean. I was especially impressed with the crew he used for the installation. What a great experience!! I was a little hesitant to just pull someone off of houzz, but I'm so glad that I did! Chris was delightful to work with and a lot of fun! He is extremely knowledgeable about the plants that would thrive in my various microclimates. He spent time to get to know what we wanted and came up with a perfect plan. He was very attentive to what we were drawn to and then incorporated our ideas about plants, pots and hardscape, while gently steering us away from things that would not have worked! He has great balance! I would highly recommend him and his team! We asked for a tropical paradise and he delivered! We are beyond happy! I am already planning the next area of my yard with him!

Wow. These guys are the real deal. From start to finish Chris displayed unbelievable customer service and follow through. His architecture drawings were fabulous and the work effort by the team to make our backyard a paradise was second to none. Not only did they deliver on what they promised, the did it efficiently and (ahead) of the promised timeline. All work was done by the same team, design, hardscape, plants, electrical, irrigation. They even took care to clean up every day and tried to avoid blocking driveways with the tools / materials. You get what you pay for and they are truly a no nonsense customer focused company that goes above and beyond to make the customer happy.

Six months ago we called Chris Winkler at O’hana Art Environments because our drip system was failing, existing plants were dying, and to top it off our gardener just stopped showing up. Chris came out promptly and assessed the situation. He verified that a majority of our existing drip system was indeed clogged with mud and dirt. He said his team could easily fix this problem, he had some ideas for replacing the dead plants, as well as some interesting ideas to bring the color up out of our yard, onto the patio’s to bring the eye upward to the house. We found out that Chris was extremely knowledgeable in horticulture; plants, microclimates, and soil quality as well as better sprinkler and lighting options, and had a good eye for color and balance. We liked Chris’s ideas and incorporated some of them into our existing landscape. Work began at a mutually agreed upon time, a hardworking crew supervised by Chris got to work, and all was finished beautifully and on time. We now have a sprinkler system that works, beautiful pots filled with succulents bringing color and balance to our home, and a new gardener! Our gardener is Chris’s own son, Christian. Christian works weekly to keep everything looking healthy and vibrant. He is responsible, respectful, listens to any concerns and gets the work done. OMG, I absolutely loved Chris and his team. When the construction was completed on my home, one of the first things I wanted to do was landscape. I evaluated various companies, but when I spoke to Chris over the phone, I knew he was the one. Chris came up with a beautiful plan for my front and backyard and took into account the style of my home, the color palette and my favorite colors. The selection and placement of the plant material was both strategic and meticulous. Chris is not just any landscaper...he is a horticultural genius.

I highly recommend this company. Over the course of about 6 months and 5 projects, they totally upgraded, enhanced and remade the exterior environment of my Dana Point home. Chris is a master designer and knows his stuff, plus he really cares about making the client happy. After the first small project, I had him do some magnificent potted plants on my back patio. The resulting plant designs and color combinations were so outstanding, that I had him transform our entry courtyard....the result was stunning. Next we moved to the front area and he totally transformed that area by removing some ugly old pigmy palm trees and replacing them with magnificent pottery, a "river of rock", various plantings, a meditation area and an oriental pagoda setting. Then we had them transform the area along our driveway and the boulevard along the street. All of these improvements greatly added to my property value and we've had friends, neighbors, realtors and two real estate appraisers remark about the work Chris has done. Upon visiting our home, one of our friends was so impressed by the work that they had Chris remake his backyard in Laguna Niguel and that result was equally stunning. Finally, I had Chris do some work at my office's entrance and it made a big improvement. After seeing their work and getting to appreciate their expertise and the care they take in the work they do, I fired my gardener and hired Chris's son, Christian, to maintain my property. Now, it looks great all of the time and I have peace of mind that it is being handled by professionals who know what they are doing and care about what they do. Both Chris and Christian are real pros and not only know their business but they are also very caring about their customer's needs. I highly recommend them!
