About Us

We are a Luxury Portland Interior Design firm specializing in modern interior design, hospitality, restaurant, retail and home interior architecture. Founded by Peter Tow in 1995, Peter heads a team of talented individuals specializing in a hands-on approach to design. Peter holds a Bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Oregon and a Masters Degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University. In addition Tow Studios has over 25 years of experience in residential, hospitality, corporate and retail design. Past Clients have included the Loews Hotel chain, Reebok International, Academy award winning music composer Tan Dun of “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” fame and Sub-Zero Wolf. Our Award Winning and HGTV featured firm is well recognized in the field of home design, modern living room design, bathroom remodel, kitchen remodel, bedroom and dining room design. It was a true pleasure to work with Peter. Our project was completed on time and within budget, a rarity in NYC! Peter was not only able to visually articulate what we wanted for our apartment, but was also able to give us things (clever storage solutions that were also design elements, expansive private spaces that felt cosy) we didn't know we wanted until we had them. He was also able to help us identify our particular style without imposing his sensibilities on us, which is rare in the very ego-driven design world where homes done by one starchitect or designer all look the same.

We utilized Peter's expertise and consultation to help design our kitchen, bath, and additional bedroom remodel for our 1950's ranch style home. We provided him with our goals, requirements, and budget and he was able to provide us with creative solutions that fit matched our needs. His responsiveness to our questions or requests, helped us quickly determine what was feasible with this project. Although we are not scheduling the demo work for another year, we will absolutely be hiring him and look forward to working with him further on this project.

Jan Vilcek

Peter Tow was the architect who in 2006-2007 designed and directed the gut renovation of a landmark Manhattan townhouse for the Vilcek Foundation, of which I was a then President. ( I am now Chairman and CEO of the Vilcek Foundation.) The townhouse includes exhibition space, office space and an apartment. Peter also designed a new penthouse floor. Peter did an absolutely spectacular job and we spent 10 happy years in the building before selling it and moving on. Peter Tow also designed and directed a major renovation of our private apartment in a landmark apartment building facing Central Park. The renovation included a completely new kitchen, redesigned living space and three new bathrooms. The outcome was extremely successful. Peter is real professional and has an impeccable taste. I would be happy to provide more information about the architectural work done by Peter Tow. He is very cost-conscious and meets deadlines

Evan Stein

I used Tow Studios to renovate my apartment when he was based in New York City. The renovation was done in 2010 and continues to live up to my expectations. His layout of the apartment (within the limitations set by our condominium board), his selection of lighting fixtures and his kitchen and bathroom design were spectacular. We had only a few requirements and he incorporated them all into his design without and loss of quality. The design work was done quickly and efficiently and his work with the contractor and subcontractors helped produce the best work at the best price possible. Would love to work with him again but, fortunately, his designs have held up so well that we haven't had to, yet.
