My wife and I have been aware of Peyton Fatherree’s work as an artist and teacher for many years. We admired Peyton as a teacher; his capacity to care genuinely about each of the students in his charge was outstanding. His open-mindedness and belief in the capacities of his students changed lives. We know that personally; he made deep, positive impact on my own son. That same deep love and concern he has for human beings shows up in his love for his art works, leaving each of them glowing with unique beauty and meaning. We were able to acquire one of his recently-created art tables for our home. Each piece of wood he chose for this apparently simple work carries its own history and meaning. Each piece contributes to the overall beauty of the work, making this small wooden table the focal point in a living room which features several other larger works of art and architectural features. I happened upon another of his tables in a doctor’s office recently. While the piece was very different from the one in our home, it was immediately recognizable as one of Peyton’s works. It was a completely unique piece that carried meaning in that particular environment and, as in our home, it was the focal point of the room. Peytons work is beautiful. He created a end table with four one hundred years old corbels I have had for over twenty years and a dining table from an old door I had. I am thrilled with both tables. Peyton creates custom furniture pieces with customers in mind. I connected him with several of our gallery clients who were all thrilled with the results. He uses reclaimed wood from many sources so his work is rustic and individual. He has a joyful and gentle creative spirit that makes him easy to work with.

I commissioned Peyton to build a custom coffee table to my specifications. I provided dimensions and identified details from his other designs that I liked. Throughout the process, he worked closely with me to ensure that the final piece would turn out the way I wanted it to. He sent photos of the wood he was considering and got my approval before continuing, and I received updates as it was built. I'm extremely pleased with the final piece and feel that Peyton charged a fair price for the work. I would not hesitate to commission him again in the future.
