Peter Currie Architects

We engaged Jeremy Newsome from Peter Currie Architects to design and oversee a cellar conversion at our home. He transformed the cellar into a superb open plan room which has been ideal for our family. What was a damp and dark cellar is now a warm, dry room (the largest in the house). It now has natural light (Jeremy discovered the original light wells and restored them) and an energy efficient LED lighting system, We were consulted at all stages and the project was on time and coordinated to perfection. The room is much admired by all who visit our home.

Our Victorian house in a conservation area had a dilapidated garage attached to it. The garage had a asbestos roof. The garage needed updating and the roof replacing with the remit of keeping any changes in the style of the Victorian architecture. Jez, our architect, took time to discuss with us, in detail, what we wanted and what we could do. He came up with original and innovative ideas that he talked through with us and helped us to reach a decision. He managed the builder and all the other workers for us in a extremely professional manner and kept us fully informed at all times of any decisions that were made. He also dealt directly with the local council with regard to planning permissions (which can be a minefield).

We used Peter Currie Architects for our ground floor kitchen dining extension.They designed managed and advised us through all the regulations and planning required for the build.Our Architect worked closely with the builder, inspectors and kitchen fitters and it was a smooth process from start to finish. The design ideas that came from our Architect Jez after he listened to how we wanted to used the space and our preferences were inspirational even down to type of light fittings which have made such an impact. We now have the most incredible kitchen dining room which is the envy of everyone who sees it. I highly recommend this company as I now have the type of room you see in the glossy House magazines only better

We used Peter Currie Architects to do the design for refurbishing and remodelling the complete lower ground floor of our late Victorian end of terrace house. This involved extensive demolition work, relocating our kitchen, changing a flight of stairs, extensive plumbing works and ultimately redesigning the rear garden. Peter Currie Architects provided an excellent design and project management service throughout this process. They carefully listened to our ideas and came up with innovative design solutions that demonstrated that not only had they understood what we wanted but had turned our hopes into pragmatic and feasible design ideas. We are very pleased with the end results and could never have believed that our house could have been transformed with such elegance and thought. Peter Currie Architects have always acted promptly and reliably to deliver our projects. In our experience, they have a wide scope of expertise and have both an eye for detail and the big picture. We were confidently able to rely on Peter Currie Architects to manage the all the regulatory requirements involved in our building projects.

We are very pleased to have had the opportunity of working with Peter Currie Architects. Our project was for a garage and adjacent car port. Why, one might ask, do you need an architect for a garage? We live in a mid-terrace property, with access to the garage from a back lane shared with other properties. We were very keen to have a design, which was attractive to look at from the lane, as well as for us and our adjacent neighbours looking up the garden. In addition our house was built in 1928 and has some features of that era, which we wanted to reflect in the design of the new garage. The build has finished and the brief was satisfied. We had no previous experience of working with an Architect, but we felt we had an excellent relationship with Jeremy, where ideas for the design were openly discussed and sketched and we were able to reach a shared view on an appropriate way forward. Jeremy understood what we wanted to try and achieve, but also gently encouraged us to think laterally. We were well supported through design, then obtaining planning permission and getting advice from a Structural Engineer. Even though Peter Currie Architects, were not directly involved, they were always willing to talk through ideas as the project developed on the ground. We have no hesitation in recommending them, based on our experience.

We brought Peter and his firm on board mid way through a residential ground floor rear extension project at short notice in order to sort out some issues. They did brilliantly and we were really pleased. Peter is well connected with builders, engineers and building control inspectors, which we made full use of and was helpful. His final design was smart and his help navigating the required approvals, including a Thames Water build over agreement, much appreciated. Peter's response times were quick and he kept ahead of our programme, despite our last minute engagement with him, which was very important to us. His rates were reasonable. Overall we were very pleased and would recommend.
