About Us

Raine Heidenberg is a residential and commercial interior designer currently based in Manhattan and Montauk, New York. Raine was born in Manhattan, grew up in Montreal and attended Brandeis University for Theater and Philosophy. She received her Masters degree in Interior Design from The Pratt Institute. Raine is dedicated to creating interiors that are not only beautiful, but also inspiring and regenerative; places that nurture communication and interaction, with our surroundings, other people and our inner selves. By working closely with her clients Raine is able to create designs that respond to her clients’ particular needs and desires while seamlessly integrating her vision into appropriate architectural, historical and geographic contexts. Raine creates striking spaces and designs custom furniture rendered with the utmost attention to detail. With a keen understanding of materials, Raine upholds craftsmanship and designs with integrity. The result is design with solid, honest construction and optimum functionality. Environmentally and socially responsible principles are embedded in the design philosophy of Raine Heidenberg Interior Design. Raine is qualified as a LEED Green Associate. My husband and I hired Raine to design our extremely outdated kitchen and two bathrooms as well a few other miscellaneous items such as built-ins, painting, some furniture and flooring. She was efficient, knowledgeable and extremely thorough. She listened to our needs and understand the style we were after and created designs that were thoughtful, functional and beautiful. She designed custom cabinetry for all rooms and her attention to detail was outstanding. We are so happy with everything. She has true passion and talent for design.

After numerous attempts at decorating with girlfriends who claimed to have an aptitude for interiors, when I bought a new co-op I included in the budget an allowance for a proper interior designer. A friend who was a previous client of Raine’s recommended her to me. Throughout the process Raine has surpassed all of my expectations. She really listened to what I wanted and encouraged feedback throughout the process, never steamrolling my (sometimes silly) ideas. My co-op now is amazing. It exudes an uncomplicated elegance. Without being totally minimalistic and cold, it is clean and modern. The materials of the furniture and built-ins are beautiful and timeless. The curtains are luxurious without being too fussy (or feminine). It is a joy to have people over. The layout is perfect for entertaining and it is always uncluttered due to Raine’s ingenious space saving solutions. I never knew I could be so tidy! I really can’t speak highly enough of Raine. She was always professional, but she made the process fun. I had a really good time working with her and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for an interior designer for their next project.

Raine has an outstanding ability to listen to her client, get to know them and their tastes, and find creative design solutions that match her clients' needs. She was very accommodating and showed me various design options and always let me have the final say. She respected the budget I had set and once the design decisions were made, she moved quickly to get all the items purchased and installed. The longest part of the project was waiting for vendors to fill our orders! Raine will bring the perfect mix of style and function to your interior space.

Commented: Is it best to hire someone to paint it or is it easy to paint it yourself?I agree with Cynthia regarding using a professional painter for this kind of job. In fact, I used a very skilled painter, who is also a talented artist, to paint this particular room.
