We build beautiful, home owner inspired, custom homes in the location you love with unlimited possibilities. With over 20 years experience in home building and renovations, owner John Sharkey has cultivated a responsible and trustworthy team of architects, designers and craftsmen that repeatedly complete projects that please. Always with the customers best interest in mind, we are committed to craftsmanship, integrity and communication and take a hands on approach to each project, serving as your trusted guide throughout the build process. From the start to completion of each project, we are on the same team as our clients and truly want the entire process to be enjoyable. The relationships we build with our customers during the build process are long-lasting, and we pride ourselves knowing that we are growing our business through customer referrals.

We had a great experience in working with the SDB team in purchasing a historic home which they had recently renovated. The entire process from initial showings, to the final closing, was executed seamlessly by their team, and we are extremely happy with how things turned out. John was extremely flexible during our unique timing circumstances (new baby on the way, selling our previous home, COVID, etc.), which we greatly appreciated. In terms of the home, we love the design the SDB took with the property and all finishes were done with high quality. Overall, we would recommend the SDB team to anyone looking to purchase a renovated home, renovating their own home, or in a new-build project.

John and his team help my wife and I build our home. I have no problem giving John, his team and the experience we had 5 stars. They did a fantastic job managing all aspects of our design and entire build out. The level of follow up we had from John was impressive and there was never a question that went unanswered. He went over and above to make us feel like we were his most important project. John's insight we fantastic, he was able to help us plan, budget and execute the build so that we ended up with the home we wanted. We plan to use John on our next build as well.

Working with Sharkey DesignBuild was a fantastic experience. I was a first time custom build so was overwhelmed many times, but their team was patient, helpful and very knowledgeable. Even after I moved in, I am able to follow up with them for any questions that I have. I would recommend them to anyone!

My wife and I love our house. Excellent build quality and thoughtfully designed to compliment the surrounding established neighborhood. John himself has also been a great source of information way past construction completion. If I have a specific question on how something was originally built or if I am just looking for a trim carpenter referral, he's got answers. They've stood behind their work and have always been willing to help when asked.

We had purchased a foreclosed home and had it all remodeled. John worked with us every step of the way as we designed and picked out our finishes. He is very easy to communicate with and are very pleased with how everything turned out. He did a great job!

We worked with the SDB team on our first ever home build. We didn't originally think that building from the ground up would be our path, but as soon as I met John and his team, I knew it would be a success. They were open, transparent and FLEXIBLE throughout the entire process. Minds will change, mistakes will happen--but what matters is how everyone (builders, subcontractors, homeowners) manages the process. The SDB team worked tirelessly to bring our vision to life and didn't bat an eye when we asked 10,000 questions along the way. From installing an in-ground basketball hoop, to refinishing my grandparent's furniture--all while also building us a house--they went above and beyond, all the way.

John and his team did a great job is completing the full renovation of our new home in St.Paul. We are so grateful that we connected with him. He and his team did everything as promised on time and within the price we agreed on. We just love how all turned out on our home. Unlike a completely brand new home build -up from just a dirt lot, John and his team built and helped us design within the footprint of the existing original shell of the house that we retained and wanted to keep. Was a lot of work on John's part to get it done the way we wanted. We recommended him to all our friends and would hire him again in a minute!
