We hired Steve Shumate to do a basement finish for us. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Shumate Building Co painted my house last February. The price was fair and the work was excellent. His team spent as much time caulking and preparing my house to paint as they did painting it. They were very professional, they got the job done in a few days. Previous to painting they also repaired some rotten wood on the exterior of my home. My neighbor was so impressed he asked me for the name of my painter and they painted his house as well. I would highly recommend them for any remodeling job. I plan to get new flooring an I will be calling them to do the job.

The Shumate Group was one of 3 estimates we got in our basement build. I knew immediately Steve was our guy-he was not the most expensive or the least, but he was the first to track with my design and inspiration and even made great suggestions. I dreaded the thought of having workers in my house, but everyone we dealt with was polite and professional. The basement turned out to be a show stopper yet did not break the bank as Steve really allowed us opportunities to find unique materials at competitive prices. We have since moved to NC but I miss that basement (kitchen, exercise room, media area, bedroom, bath, barn wood wall and columns and barn doors) and wish I had access to the quality and relationship we developed with Shumate Group

Steve has assisted us in buying and fixing up 2 properties including a brand new custom basement and project work for a lake house. He is thorough and has an eye for detail. We have recommended Steve to our close friends and appreciate his honest, hard work. Steve acts as if the project and work he is doing is for his own home and does not take shortcuts.

The Shumate group removed carpet from my dinning room and hallway and replaced it with tile. Steve and his guys were absolutely fantastic. Steve helped me in my search for the right tile, explained how they were going to place it, and generally guided me through the entire process. The work was done quickly, and professionally, and there was no Mess afterwards; they cleaned up everything. I am very pleased with the work they performed, and would recommend them to everyone. My wife and I have worked with Shumate Building Co. twice, once on a remodel of my mothers house and recently with an addition at my house. The work was done to our satisfaction and on time. Steve is professional and easy to work with. I was very happy with the price and that there was no clean up for us to do. We would use Shumate Building Co. again and recommend Steve highly.

Steve did an entire home rennovation for us. He worked seamlessley with his subcontractors to minimize the hassle involved in such an extensive project. His ideas and sense of design were tremendous. He thought of things that not only made the end result beautiful, but also added so much to the way we used the various spaces within the home. He really listened to us and understood the needs of a large family, which isn't easy, as well as understood our taste and overall look and feel, which was very different than the majority of the homes in the area. All of this was done within a fair and value based budget. I would completely recommend Shumate Building Company for your next project no matter how big. In fact, numerous friends have used Steve for their projects and have had identical results.
