Bobby Melvin started The Final Coat in 2002. Over the past 12 years Bobby has used his knowledge (and then some) to paint for folks all over Alabama. He has his Journeyman's Card, and is Lead Certified. When asked "What is the project you are most proud of?" it is hands down, the "peel Away" project. Bobby peeled away 42 layers of paint during this project. When asked about his "most sentimental project" it is a Doghouse for Black Jack, Jake, & Wilbur. When asked "Why painting?" Bobby says looking at a finished Job, seeing the home owner smile, it's his passion. Bobby grew up in Trussville Alabama, a typical southern boyhood. Played sports, harassed his three sisters, went to church. When he reached 18 he realized that he needed to find a Job that didn't use the phrase "do you want fries with that?". Watching his parents unhappy in their careers, Bobby's Grandpa told him to "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life." Bobby's Step Brother, Joe, offered to let him come and work with him over the summer, Bobby needed cash and Joe needed help. When they were finished with that first home, the home-owner smiled and Bobby was hooked.
