The Garden Natives transformed my backyard into a beautiful retreat! Amanda and Sydney listened to my ideas and tailored my garden accordingly, and they offered tiered plans to fit my budget. They are professional, talented, and accessible. I will definitely use them for future projects!

Many thanks to Sydney and Amanda and their team who did an incredible job on my lawn removal project in Highland Park. The project included installation of a rock wall and custom gate, installation of over 50 native plants in a ~500sq-ft front yard, mini topographic relief 'mounds', drip irrigation, and a rock-lined swale for stormwater retention. I gave Sydney and Amanda instructions to create a "natural" feel and the team absolutely delivered in creating what I hope will eventually be a mini wildlife sanctuary right in my front yard. The job was planned over several months of dialogue, and throughout, Sydney and Amanda were flexible, accommodating, and responsive to my needs as a client. As a former biologist with a background in botany, I was the definition of a picky client, and not once did I receive any kind of resistance to the feedback I was giving on the design, construction, or post-completion adjustments. Garden Natives was also very reasonably priced and was willing to work with me on the budget when specific items popped up that we didn't plan for. If you are looking for a company that has a 'Mom and Pop' approach to their business, with a personal touch and a genuine concern for their clients' happiness, you will find it in Garden Natives!

We’ve been gradually transitioning our yard to California native plants, and were so happy to finally find Garden Natives, who specialize in native landscaping, to do a major overhaul. We were impressed by prior work of theirs we’d seen, and from the initial consultation, we found Sydney and Amanda incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to work with. They soon provided a beautiful hand-drawn plan for our yard. They were very open to our thoughts, and had terrific ideas about appropriate plants that could withstand shade from our redwood trees and stand up to our large dogs. They were also flexible about working within our budget, offering a range of options. We couldn’t be more pleased with the design collaboration. Sydney and Amanda also lead an amazing crew. We were struck by their amiability and punctuality, and how they all clearly love what they’re doing and working together. During installation, we requested a few minor changes that hadn’t occurred to us earlier (including building some small hillocks), and they were totally accommodating. A ground cover we’d hoped for turned out to be unavailable, but Sydney and Amanda offered good alternatives and swiftly found a supplier. They stayed in touch throughout the installation process, were regularly on site, and made sure the final result was to our satisfaction. We would absolutely call on Garden Natives again. Even in an initial state, the garden is lovely and will only grow more so. We feel lucky to have found them. (We'll add photos once we take down some temporary protective fencing.)

Garden Natives re-landscaped both our home and my office recently. The design was perfect for each setting and the work was excellent. Working with Sydney and Amanda was such a wonderful experience. They completely landscaped a bare slope in my backyard with the most beautiful mix of plants, really capturing the woodsy feel I was looking for. They are extremely knowledgeable about plants, efficient, and just a true pleasure to work with. Their team is also very professional and helpful. I’ve used them twice so far and plan to have them back to complete my irrigation. It is was really inspiring to work with a company that has so much passion towards their craft and strives to complete their client’s vision.

We noticed The Garden Natives while they were working on several neighbors’ gardens and were impressed. Our deck was being remodeled and we were eager to complement it with appropriate landscaping and to revamp our backyard garden. We have had several negative experiences with landscape designers in the past so were reticent to use this company. They did not disappoint. Amanda and Sydney were easy to work with, listening to our requests and making appropriate suggestions re plantings. Amanda and her crew did a great job with the installation and it looks fabulous. We were so impressed we had them work their magic on 2 other garden spaces. We would definitely hire them again.

Well-informed, full of creative but practical ideas, and very responsive. I liked working with them because they actually listened to me. Knowledgeable about natives but not doctrinaire, I highly recommend THe Garden Natives and hope to call on them again for another project.

These women know their business well. They brought considerable plant and design know-how to our project, tackling the planting of CA natives and a general overhaul to our sloped backyard. They responded quickly to my request for a consultation, came in on budget, communicated well throughout the process, and handled everything in a timely, professional way. They are enthusiastic and fun to work with, too!

These ladies have an excellent eye for design and layout. I recommend them to any of my clients that require landscaping or outdoor space planning. My only regret is that I haven't been able to work with them more often. They are a joy to work with!

Amanda and Sydney and their entire crew are a wonderful team, who are each and all knowledgeable, have a positive work ethic, are accommodating, understanding, flexible, creative, passionate about their profession and genuinely interested in the project at hand. They're also friendly and enjoyable to work with. They designed and implemented a complete landscape makeover that blended nicely with two older houses on a single property. They went the extra mile to find ways to adapt the owner's ideas with their budget. This was a drought tolerant native plant project where the home owners requested color and flowers that would attract butterflies and birds. The design included a lovely fountain that the birds and home owners both enjoy. Amanda and Sydney also recommended an excellent fencing contractor whose work complemented the landscaping very nicely. When it came time to install the design, everyone worked steadily and efficiently, while at the same time allowed plenty of time to answer questions and discuss each stage of the project. I also recommend their follow up service of quarterly maintenance. At first the home owners declined this service but later decided to try it. Even though there's a weekly gardening service in place, it made a significant difference when The Garden Natives came in and trimmed the plants, removed excess leaf debris from surrounding trees, and re-compressed the soil around some plants as needed for optimal rooting - the plant world's version of a new haircut and spa treatment. It was clear that the plants all benefitted greatly and the seasonal maintenance enhanced the overall aesthetic of the yard areas that lasts for a long time afterwards.

Sydney and Amanda were great. They were one of the few companies that responded to us in a timely manner when we were first getting estimates. They did not dismiss our smaller project (like some of the other companies we spoke to), and they were patient with us as well while we worked through other issues with our backyard project (had separate companies come in and do drainage and gate install). They stuck with us to the end, and they finished the project in a timely manner and were in constant communication with us during the process. Very pleased with their work and professionalism.,

The transformation of a weedy lawn to a waterwise native garden is wonderful, Sydney & Amanda knows the plants, the arrangement of the various shapes & forms of the plants is very pleasing, and the garden is alive with birds, bees & butterflies. Also, they start the project as promised. they finish a project at a time, not spreading themselves thin with multiple projects, (that's my impression) Great staffs keep the garden clean & neat at the end of each day.

Sydney and Amanda run an absolutely first rate garden design and installation company. Great design. They know their plants and hardscape surfaces. They augmented our back garden with a french drain, stone and gravel hardscape and paths, filled in with plants and revamped our watering system. In the front, removed our grass and replaced it with native and sustainable plants and a new drip watering system that saves water and money. And a total pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend them.

From beginning to end, the process of redoing my whole yard with The Garden Natives team after putting in a pool, was seamless and masterful! I enjoyed working with Amanda and Sydney during the design process and they were there the majority of the time during the install. The team of workers they have employed are the best group of people ever! Super friendly, polite and lots of fun! They work super, super hard and have a great time doing it! Which was lovely, I enjoyed seeing the progression of my new yard transformed while I heard cheerful voices and laughter coming from it while they worked away. They kept to my budget and changed plans according to my whims! What more could you ask for??

We'd been struggling for years with a pretty much non-existent front yard. It started out shortly after buying the home with removing a very large ash tree with damaging roots, then removing agave that grew way too big with roots that damaged the street. We had an idea of what we would eventually want the front yard to look like, and started out with a bobcat kind of shaping the yard. After several weeks of sweat and aches and pains, we decided to try and find a contractor who would help us move it along. After a few interviews we meet Sydney and Amanda, and instantly bonded. These ladies know their stuff, and after a few conversation we hired them. In a short week they turned our basic ideas into a beautiful reality. They are true landscape professionals, and came in under budget producing a front yard that is so much more than we ever dreamed of. Thank you Sydney and Amanda, you guys are awesome!

The Garden Natives helped me by designing a balcony garden. We just had my 90 day review. All the plants are doing well. They gave me a few ideas for how to trim and water the plants. I was watering the succulents too much. I love the new garden.

Garden Natives gave my drought tolerant front yard a "face lift". Amanda and Sydney and their crew spread new mulch on my large front yard, created a meandering DG path from the curb to my front porch, removed older unattractive plants and suggested more interesting colorful plants that will enhance the look of my yard. They worked quickly and diligently and finished the project ahead of schedule. I'm extremely pleased with the final results. Since that time they have done numerous smaller projects for me. They removed a couple of old, ugly trees planted by birds, planted hopseed bushes to create a hedge where one of the trees was removed, planted a couple of smaller trees I had in pots in the ground, designed and planted 3 large pots with beautiful succulents. They also recommended a tree service to prune a very large tree and that company did a great job.

I used Garden Natives to totally redo my front yard, back yard, pool area and BBQ area. They did a fantastic job. They worked everyday from demo day to the finish date, rain or shine. There were no prolonged periods on inaction and we were right on schedule. It was a challenge to integrate drought resistant landscaping into a neighborhood of rolling lawns and traditional gardens.....I'm so pleased we were able to plant a beautiful mixture of flowers, greenery and even herbs and ferns. Amanda and Sydney of GARDEN NATIVES are outgoing, friendly and definitely know what they are doing. I LOVE WHAT THEY DID FOR MY YARD! They were faced with a complete re-make - transforming a water thirsty lawn with plants are drought tolerant. They did the planning and completed everything they said they were going to do and on time. The color of the blooms, the placement of the plants and the finished look that the bender board adds makes my yard/house look so polished and yet so fairytale-like. I am just mesmerized by the yard. I keep looking at it. It makes me so happy. I highly recommend them.

I had a difficult landscaping project I needed taken care of, (low light, lots of rocks, water issues) and Sydney and Amanda really knocked it out of the park. Their designs and choices of plants were phenomenal. On top of everything, they were done with the whole project in a day and a half! Cannot recommend them enough!

I had wanted to convert our front yard to something more California (drought) friendly for quite awhile and am so happy to have found Sydney and Amanda, The Garden Natives. They were so knowledgable about every facet of the job, from the variety of plants and how to arrange them in a manner that fits our property, to the design and installation of an irrigation system. They were very easy to communicate with and finished the job when they said they would.

For 16 years I cared for my garden myself and believed I did a better job than a gardening service could do. But due to a shoulder injury I had to hire someone, and by the time Sydney and Amanda came, things were pretty out of control. They did an overall clean up and shaping of all my beds that took 2 full days. They were responsive, professional, fun to work with, and efficient. But most of all, knowledgeable. If you've ever experienced a "mow, blow and go" gardener trying to deadhead your roses with a chain saw, you know that you have to hire someone who understands the growth cycle of all your plants. Hard to find. I was so impressed with this company I have hired them for quarterly maintaince.

Our backyard was a complete do-over. Sydney and Amanda initially did a design for us. We wanted CA native plants, decomposed granite, stumps for the kids, and new trees for shade. Their design was so well thought out and aesthetically pleasing that revisions were minor and we went straight to hiring them to execute. Sydney and Amanda are not just landscape designers; they do a lot of the actual landscaping work themselves and are also excellent project managers for the items they hired out (in my case things like fencing). They handled the job very smoothly and in a stress free way. I have dealt with probably 15-20 contractors and subs over the past few years, and Sydney and Amanda were definitely among the top three. The results were awesome and my family loves our new outdoor space. We know Sydney and Amanda will enjoy continued success and hope they'll be able to do maintenance on our yard over the years to come.

Extremely happy with the work that Sydney and Amanda do. They come once every three months and provide general maintenance (pulling a removing weeds, reseeding and replanting, and making things look great). After investing in a landscape plan a couple of years ago, it was important to make sure that everything was maintained correctly. Sydney and Amanda always leave with everything looking great. The Garden Natives are a group of young ladies who have exceptional expertise in landscaping. They were able to transform my old yard of very thirsty plants into a beautiful water conservation yard of succulent plants. They did this without having to sacrifice the beauty and integrity of my landscape. My home is located in a popular residential corner of my community. We get a lot of foot traffic (via dog walkers and bikers) and many of these neighbors congratulate me on the appearance of our yard. Garden Natives is NOT a one and done landscape company. They follow up with a quarterly maintenance that helps keep our yard looking like it was just redone.
