Jack Witherington and his staff are consummate professionals that care deeply about their craft. Our job, a pool house structure built in the Methods & Materials shop and shipped to our site, was completed with the same care, passion, and enthusiasm Jack references on the M&M website. Our building was designed to appear as though it was built in the late 1880s electrified sometime in the 1950s. It is a building designed to appear like a modest and "simple" structure that may have stored boats over the winter. As I learned throughout the process, making something look modest often adds greatly to its complexity. Jack and his team took the time to focus on even the smallest details to produce and install a building that enhances the entire neighborhood and the waterfront location on which it sits. Each time we are there, we marvel at the intricate work that went into producing it. Jack was easy and enjoyable to work with. He loves what he does and that spirit carried throughout every aspect of our project. Jack and his team are flexible problem-solvers too. Each project presents challenges and the M&M team was able to quickly isolate issues and devise solutions, all without compromising the original design intent or the budget. Since the project's completion, Jack has been available for questions or any help we've needed. I look forward to working with Jack again.

For my building project, I was initially overwhelmed by all the choices out there. Lucky for me I found the amazing bunch of carpenters at Methods & Materials. Working with M&M was (and has been ongoing) a pleasure in that I feel informed and confident in the whole process. Expert craftsmen, plus easy to talk to, excellent follow-through, dependable and conscientious. It was quite an experience to see an idea sketched out at our kitchen table transition to the finished addition to our home. If I ever have another project, for sure my first call will be to Methods & Materials.

After my old barn burned down (see the "before" photo) I searched around for someone that could build another in timber frame. I had several outfits tell me they could build one but couldn't provide any details. Not knowing exactly what I would be getting was difficult for me to accept. That was until I met Jack at Methods & Materials Building Company. We had a long discussion about timber framing and his background. He showed me photos of numerous completed projects and then gave me some concept drawings for my particular building project. After that we had more discussions about materials and specifications even down to the strength of the pegs used to hold it all together. Then once we made a decision to go with it he had a set of drawings and specifications for me. There was a lot of excavation to be done along with a considerable amount of masonry work before the actual building start. The subs for those jobs were hired and managed by Jack with out any issues. The job went smoothly from start to finish and the level of skill and craftsmanship displayed by his crew was truly remarkable. The overall impression I got was that they were all dedicated professionals who enjoyed what they were doing and took great pride in it as well. I couldn't have asked for more in the finished product. It's been about eight years since it was built and there hasn't been any problems and at this point I don't expect to see any. I couldn't recommend him more highly.

I am an architect that has had the pleasure of working with Materials and Methods on several different projects over a number of years. As an architect, I am highly concerned with the preservation of the design intent I have created as well as the quality of the craftsmanship of the final product.
