We worked with the Trout Design Studio on redesigning the entry steps to our Victorian town house in Washington, DC. The firm made the process of going through Historic Preservation and Fine Arts Council effortless. The design was original and gave the look and the expanse that the house needed to make entry into the house both beautiful and accommodating. We are using the firm again to remodel our house. We have begun the design process and have the drawings and elevations already. The firm has been instrumental in recommending engineering professionals as well as providing needed documentation to start the permitting process. We look forward to working with them on the construction and finishes for a fantastic new look for our home. It has been such a rewarding process so far.

Michael Beidler and associates are very adept and knowledgeable with historic homes and designing contextual additions and renovations. I have done several projects with Trout Design and all have achieved great resale value.

MIchael Beidler, principal and founder, did the entire design for our 5,000 SF townhouse. Completely gutted and rebuilt. He is project manager and is meticulous, efficient, and talented. We're having a blast.

Complete bathrooms renovations: 2 bathrooms. Concept/design drawings, product selection, paint colors, lighting, fixtures, cabinets, tiles. Replacement of all apartment interior doors, repainting entire apartment, ceiling lighting and fans, coordinated complete plan for 1100 sq. ft. apartment. hiring and supervision of all sub contractors.

Working with Michael and Tim at Trout Design was a pleasure and a rewarding experience. They understood exactly what I wanted for my new kitchen, sunroom addition and deck. They translated my ideas into a beautiful design, where every detail was carefully worked out and every design problem thoughtfully resolved. They also skillfully navigated all the required reviews and permits. The process was a pleasure and the result was a beautiful and functional new space, exactly as I envisioned.

Mr. Beidler is a very prolific architect/designer in the DC area. His breadth of knowledge in designing, building, etc. particularly in the DC/Metropolitan area (given his expertise in the laws, building permits, etc. of building in DC and elsewhere) is something to take advantage of when considering building a house, addition, outside work, etc. in DC. He has given me very helpful advice in expanding ideas of our condo in Kalorama and our house in Observatory Circle. He is also so versatile. I see his work in so many different areas from established neighborhoods of Kalorama and Dupont to hipper areas near 14th Street and also also the burgeoning Anacostia Arts District. The large apartments he designed on Columbia Road and 19th Street are simply breathtaking.

I worked with Michael Beidler and Trout Design on a new build country home that I adore. They were excellent at taking the feeling of the house I wanted and transforming it to a real functional design with the perfect awareness of views, airflow and light. I continue to notice surprises about the house and setting that I never realized before.

TroutDesign played a major role in my remodel of a 1870s rowhouse in Washington DC which included a conversion of a very large garage space to a studio integrated with patio. I worked with the team at TroutDesign from concept through completion. Particular strengths included: design vision that incorporated my immediate needs/wishes but also thought of long term function and design appeal; practical; attenton to detail; easy to work with; good relationship skills for working with my interior designer and general contractor.
