UNFOLD architecture + design

Mark at UNFOLD design assisted us with a lower ground floor renovation and side return extension to our Victorian terraced property in South London. He provided many ideas and drawings to help us utilise the space to its full potential, and was practical and responsive with his advice throughout the project. He was also extremely patient and understanding when our project experienced delays, and generally a pleasure to work with. We cannot recommend Mark highly enough.

Mark Darnell designed and conscientiously oversaw the building works for a layout change to residential studio apartment in Kensington, including removal of wall, construction of a new piece of wall, new layout for services, kitchen and bathroom, including Building Control and liaison with surveyor to Landlord for the apartment block.

We contacted Mark from Unfold about changing the basement level layout of our townhouse in South London A tricky project with an old structure to open the floor plan and add an extension out onto the garden. He was an exceptional help throughout. From conception to delivery he was attentive, listening to our challenges and concerns and adapting to work with what the building had to offer. He was also a great help in providing solutions where others had seen problems. We hope to not be doing any building work for a while but when we do, we'd certainly get Mark back!

It was a pleasure working with Mark on our kitchen extension/ground floor renovation. He is a brilliant architect who was unfazed by the structural complexities we encountered. We highly recommend him. He was always easy to communicate with, solution-oriented and provided timely advice.

We wanted to open our kitchen our, extend half way into our side return (we still wanted access from our dining room). The first part of the kitchen was already light, so we wanted to replicate that but make the rest of the kitchen more coherent. Mark complete designs and submitted plans to the council for us. The process was smooth and Mark listened to our needs and was able to accommodate them into the designs. The apex roof at the end of the kitchen is not something we would have thought about, and that really works. When our builders had some questions, Mark was happy to come around to our property and speak with the builders, I think that really helped, as we were quickly able to agree a way forward I would recommend Mark I have added a before and after picture (the room is lighter than it looks)

We worked with Mark on a side return kitchen extension in our London terrace. He was absolutely brilliant to work with, from the first meeting through to delivery. He listened and understood our needs and our brief, came up with an inspiring vision, and then helped us every step of the way in delivering it. He recommended great partners to work with, eg a structural engineer; and came up with stylish and creative solutions we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. I wouldn't hesitate to work with him again.
