We bought two renovated Victorian fireplaces from Victorian Fireplaces last week. A pair of matching genuine fireplaces so beautifully renovated are hard to come by and we are delighted with them. The service we received was fantastic and the fireplaces arrived on time, carefully packaged and in perfect condition. Our ugly old blocked-in chimney breasts will soon showcase these stunning fireplaces. We can't wait to light them, sit back and enjoy seeing a long-lost feature restored to our old house. I cannot rate these guys higher, I had experience of what I can only describe as first class customer service, especially from a guy called Ben. I was given great guidance, including advise of current regulations for open fires, hearths and surrounds. When ordering a fireplace, tiles, hearth and mantle I was sent pictures of the product, along with all dimensions needed for fitting. These guys know what they are doing and have some very high quality and attractive products.

We own a 19th century cottage on the Isle of Man. As you might imagine it's been "messed with" over the years so we're continually doing conservation work. This year we're working on the "study"; it used to be the old post office counter and sweet shop. As part of the work we're putting in a genuine Victorian fire place. I know it's real because it came out of a pub that was being turned into offices. Surprise, it fitted the hole in the wall like a dream - Victorian standarisation! The only problem was that most of the Art Nouveau tiles were either cracked or missing so we turned to the Web and started searching. We found the Victorian Fireplace Store in Stockport and they had the very thing, exact size, great design (slightly different to the original but if anything an improvement), two panels of five tiles and handed (left and right). Phoned them up, talked to Danny, paid for them and between us we arranged the carriage. The product was delivered to the door, across the stormy Irish Sea, just on 24 hours later. Very impressed with everything, many thanks to VFS.

Commented: Fireplace...replace with a woodburner?I'd say that, that is more of a 50's style fireplace and the original has been replaced at some point. Usually 1930's fireplaces are quite tall and skinny with a tiled insert section. See pic attach...
