About Us

Provide design and blueprints for new homes, remodeling and additions to existing homes. About 400 projects have been completed over the past 15 years in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin that include: •New Homes •Whole house remodels •Expanded Kitchens •Second floor additions •Master Bedroom Suites •Expanded & Detached Garages •New Family Rooms •Decks Services Offered We serve clients who only have their basic needs identified or those with a sample or "back of the envelope" plan. A free preliminary meeting identifies the objectives for this project: •What functions do you wish to serve with the new space? •What constraints exist with existing structure, lot, etc.? •What is budget available for the project? An estimate will be provided for the design services. Project deliverables include preliminary design, 3D renderings & construction documents.

I hired John to design my residential garage, which sounds straightforward, but it was not. My property had several unique and complicating elements/restrictions and the building design was impacted by these as well as other factors. John was patient, responsive, thorough, a good listener, asked appropriate questions, and, in the end, delivered drawings that resulted in a beautiful, functional, and historically-appropriate 2-car garage with storage. I'm very happy!

We had an architect and other design/build firms come out to design a plan for our attic addition and stairway placement. They were baffled and suggested we hire a structural engineer first. They also planned to go the easy route and put the stairway in space of existing bedroom. We didn't like the idea of having to lose a whole bedroom. Instead, John Wardell came and took careful measurements, coming up with a brilliant plan to use the hall closet and existing entry by angling the steps just right! He saved us a lot of money! And we are thrilled with the design! He is the perfect combination of design and engineering!

We had the pleasure of working with John on our second story addition. He was professional, creative, and an excellent listener. He masterfully combined our ideas and goals with his own ideas and experience to create plans for our home that have worked perfectly for our family.
