We've done a number of renovation and extension projects over the last ten years and have worked with a number of different builders during this period. Having had AJP Construction work on our last extension, I wouldn't work with anyone else. Whilst they are undeniably more expensive than other builders, the value they add is immense, and the quality of their work first class. Detailed quotes are followed up by regular updates on the project and a bill with no surprises. Richard has a professional team who are respectful of the fact that they're working in peoples homes: they're friendly, courteous and tidy, and conscious of the impact of their activities on neighbouring properties. Richard himself is a nice guy and great project manager and the perfect intermediary between client and the team. We were genuinely blown away by their attention to detail, their professionalism, and their ability to deliver to budget and on time.

In late 2016 we relocated from the US to the Cotswolds. The property we purchased needed extending and significantly remodeling. After much researching and meetings we appointed AJP to carry out all building work and management of specialty trades. We then returned to the US for three months to settle our affairs there and left AJP to get on with the job. Despite the time and distance difference we were kept updated with progress and any issues that needed resoloution. The work was completed on time and on budget. Quality workmanship means that since completion 2 years ago we have had no reason to call AJP for any remedial work. We have no hesitation in recommending them as a first class company.

Testimonial – Shaftesbury House We engaged AJP in a large extension and refurbishment to our domestic property, which comprised a new, enlarged kitchen, family room and orangery as well as major alterations to our master bedroom. The project was scheduled to take 5 months and had a budget commensurate with its scale. Before work commenced we were immediately struck by the professionalism of Richard in the way that he prepared and presented the quotation. The quotation ran to 10 pages, with a detailed specification and prices broken down in appropriate detail. The specification comprised minimal assumptions as Richard had taken the trouble to thoroughly survey the site and understand our requirements. AJP were not the cheapest quotation we received but their approach gave us confidence that we could work together with minimal surprises and that communication would be clear and precise. Their attitude was extremely professional and entirely consistent with what we were looking for. Their approach when work commenced did not disappoint. Richard was our point of contact and he project managed the work with great diligence. As an example Richard would email me every week summarising the work done, setting out the priorities for the next week and re-confirming the completion date. Richard and his team were refreshingly tidy and were always very considerate towards our needs as we continued to live on-site whilst work went on around us. The quality of work undertaken by AJP was excellent and exceeded our expectations. We had other contractors on-site at the same time that were equally impressed by the quality of their work. The whole project was completed on time, on budget and with no surprises. Post completion, there were a couple of trivial snagging queries, which Richard dealt with as soon as they arose. Overall, we would have no hesitation in recommending AJP and have subsequently re-engaged Richard to undertake further work. Our experience has demonstrated that the quality of AJP’s work is excellent but just as importantly so is their professionalism, communication and reliability. We firmly believe that you can have confidence in their abilities to deliver a great result.

We were recommended by neighbours to use Richard Strickland and the AJP Construction team and engaged them to do a considerable amount of often tricky work to a quirky listed Cotswold stone house which was in need of total upgrading. They liaised well with the architect, local authority and conservation officer to ensure all materials used were compliant. They replaced dormer windows,renewed the authentic slates on the major section of the roof, prepared the kitchen for new fittings to be installed, removed some crumbling external structures and an old wall, ,paved a patio, helped to relocate an oll tank and create hard standing for a new shed, built a lovely new stone wall, hard landscaped a new driveway, did preparatory work for electric gates to be installed, did a great deal of external and internal redecorating and worked congenially and well with a range of other trades who were working on site. Throughout Richard and his crew were sensitive to our needs, receptive to changes as the project developed, took a real pride in the quality of their work and were very pleasant and courteous to have around. We trusted them completely and even went on holiday at one point, leaving our cat and home in their care. Some subsequent snagging was undertaken quickly and efficiently and we have recommended them to others.Throughout they kept us fully advised on budgetary matters and at no point did we have any cause for concern.

Richard and his team were brilliant with our renovations project. We had 3 phases, and they took nearly a year. Every one of them is beyond our expectations. We were so grateful for the consultation, options discussed, opinions shared, care taken in execution, tidiness at the end of each day, and the pride that was taken by everybody in Richard’s team to “Get it right, first time.” A special mention has to be for the customer communications aspect. We like to be informed, and Richard took the time and trouble to email us, regularly and frequently, saying what they had done, why they had done it that way, what they were going to do both short and longer term, with the timescales, and arranging discussion times and topics. We have no hesitation in recommending Richard and his team, in projects both small and large.

AJP have done many jobs for us ranging from the complete refurbishment of a sixties flat, to rebuilding a dangerous but listed wall and fitting a new semi- integrated fridge into an old hand made oak kitchen. They always show imagination as well as professionalism and the finished jobslook immaculate. We feel very confident that, once they are involved, the job will be done to a very high standard. They are also very nice people and that always helps.

Highly professional and extremely competent company who I have now used for 3 major projects on two houses.
