Wes Hanson designed and built our home. They bring unique ideas to the table and have some excellent carpenters in their crew. We also found they generally worked with a talented group of sub contractors. Ultimately, we were disappointed with the finish work of our home (one of the areas where we thought Wes would be good) as it was hastily done. The quality of the painting and trim work is variable (i.e. lots of gaps, trim boards falling off the wall, light gaps and drafts around our exterior doors, areas where the trim has pencils marks or unfinished edges, walls without a finish coat of paint). I think much of this stemmed from a fairly talented crew being overworked, under supervised, and stretched too thin. They also ultimately walked away from our project with a list of incorrect/incomplete items that will be a headache for us to solve on our own. They ran over their bid with regards to labor costs and most billing statements had over charges/inaccuracies that I had to call them out on. We would meet with and consider other builders in the future before returning to Wes Hanson.

We used Wes Hanson Builders to build a new cabin on Crosslake in Crosslake, MN during the winter of 2016-17. They entire team was professional and stood 100% behind their timeline. We began demo and construction of the cabin in October 2016. The team finished the approximate 7,000 sq ft home in early May 2017. The product is superior, the finishes are as we requested, and they were attentive to all minor adjustments that we requested after move-in. Tom and the ENTIRE Wes Hanson team was a pleasure to work with. We also built the home while living 1,000 miles away with only one on-site electrical walkthrough.

I had Wes Hanson builders do a remodel project on my lake home. I was disappointed in many ways. The first project manager ignored my wishes and made choices opposite my direction. The materials used were the cheapest available. The only person involved who tried to accommodate the timeline was Craig, the on site worker. My project was perhaps small in the scheme of things, but I had more remodeling in mind. I would never hire this company to work in my home again.

I would diffinately recommend Wes Hanson Builders to anyone who is looking to build a unique and high quality home. The design and placement of our home gave us a beautiful view of the lake from almost every room. The construction and finishing people did a lot of little extra things that made it a beautiful home and not just a house. We spent close to a year looking at different contractors and designs and after looking at homes that Wes Hanson Builders had completed, it was clear to us who we wanted to build our home.

We have been working with Wes Hanson builders over the last 4 years, first in renovation of our 1920's cabin and then in planning for our new home on property next to the cabin (we just broke ground.)
