If you are a property owner contemplating Magnesite or decking work - AVOID this company.
I'm part of a 2nd generation firm that, in the past, has used Western for jobs at about half a dozen buildings.
Earlier this Summer, I began to work with them for rebuilding a couple decks, and recoating a few stairsways at a multifamily building.
The project became a complete nightmare - emails were never returned, phone calls were never answered.
*EVERY SINGLE* date and deadline they gave was missed, followed by them not returning emails for days.
Their communication - which was essential to planning with tenants - was totally failed, resulting in mass tenant ill will which was left for me to deal with.
The job was originally quoted as three days, and ended up stretching to 8 days over 3 weeks, with intermittent days where the property was in disarray, and no work was done.
They did an incomplete job of cleanup (leaving nails on walkways and patios once the job was complete, and damaged a security gate leaving it inoperable.
More notably, this moderately sized project was completed by two individuals only, who never once arrived before 10:00am, and never once stayed after 4:00pm. Security cameras also indicate they took multiple long breaks and would repeatedly stop for snacks, breaks, and long phone calls.
At one point, when I tripped over some debris they left laying in a walk, the two workers started making jokes about me, in Spanish, unaware I understood.
Towards the end of the project, the owner, Bernard, called to check in. My conversation started very cordial - but when I relayed (tactfully) some of the details above, his ONLY response was to deny and deflect blame. Not a single effort was made to resolve the problem.
As a result of their poor organization and work, several other building projects also had to be moved, causing additional expense and inconvenience.
****They will, doubtless, reply with a politely worded statement regarding this comment. If any of what is denied, I'll simply post the emails, recorded phone calls, and security footage which confirm everything I've said.****
Oh.. yeah.. a week before the project was done, they sent me an email advising it was complete, and asking for immediate payment. They seemed a little disappointed when I told them I was at the building barely at hour earlier, and construction was still days from being done.
