Contemporary minimalistic furniture is always so expensive, right? Wrong. The Eva Shaker Oak Collection allows us to embrace simplicity in our frequently cluttered and busy lives. You'd be forgiven for thinking that you're looking at Scandinavian-styled furniture and sure, many Scandinavian features are prevalent here including thin tapered legs and a slim and sleek top surface. However, this gorgeous oak furniture collection bears all the hallmarks of Shaker style furniture which was originally pioneered by followers of a religious sect in the 1700's. It sounds a bit crazy, but the furniture is anything but. Shakers were passionate about furniture and ensuring it was made thoughtfully with functional form and proportion. Rather than using ornamentation such as inlays and carvings which were a popular feature of this period, they developed creative solutions and asymmetrical drawer arrangements that created visual interest in a much more subtle way. Aside from the slim and super-modern oak top surface another excellent feature of this Shaker-style oak Collection is that it arrives with two sets of handles supplied, a squared brushed metal option and a round wooden knob, allowing you to customise each item to suit your interior style. Bring simplicity and calm to any room of the home with this stunning bedroom, living and dining room Collection that simply oozes class and sophistication. This Collection is also available in Grey called Eva Shaker Grey and Ivory called Eva Shaker IvoryRead More
Ample storage space is important in kitchens and dining rooms – all that crockery, cutlery and serveware to deal with, but sometimes it can be a shame to hide everything away all the time and leave nothing but blank cupboard doors to look at. Dressers and display cabinets are one way of storing but displaying at the same time. You might think of traditional welsh dressers and oak display cabinets, but in actual fact there are all sorts of display cabinets to choose from – shabby chic china cabinets with glass shelves, modern solid wood display units and high gloss glass display cabinets.

The welsh dresser is the most traditional style and was designed as a place to store and prepare food, with the various display shelves, drawers and cupboards used to store different items and the surface above the cupboards acting as a small worktop. Now, many people use a dresser to display their best crockery on top and the rest of their dinnerware beneath. However, kitchen oak dressers can also be used more like pantries or could purely be for displaying items, such as pictures, ornaments, crockery and visual display pieces.

Display cabinets obviously don’t need to remain in the kitchen or dining room. If you have a collection you wish to display then you could choose corner display cabinets or wall display cabinets elsewhere in the house. Glass cabinets do the job of protecting items from dust and damage, whilst still leaving the contents on clear view. You could choose to display your books in a cabinet rather than on a bookshelf, or you could opt for a large dresser or display cabinet that takes up the majority of a wall and go for a full-impact display with plants, pots, books, ornaments, or anything you fancy.
