About Us

Archanaeum is a multidisciplinary company specialising in Architecture, Development, Construction and Project Management. We cater to every stage of any build project by providing individual services or as a holistic ‘one stop shop’ from inception to completion. Archanaeum was founded by Kuan Leng and Chris Boyle who set up the company in November 2016. Both Kuan and Chris previously carried out work for a group of companies who also undertook a multidisciplinary approach to services within the construction industry. (This website shows a selection of projects that Kuan and Chris have carried out during this time). The two directors have acquired a vast amount of individual and collective experience in every stage a development project goes through from assembling and purchasing land/sites, designing workable and aesthetically pleasing proposals, obtaining planning approval, procuring the build contract and directly managing the construction process. As such, they are in the unique position where they have experienced and delivered in every aspect of the building process, whether it is raising finance, design or on-site construction management and delivery.

Mike Shamdan

We had 2 issues with them: (a) unable (and potentially) unwilling to stick to our design team's brief and in spite of them setting the project's direction (b) the quality of work was woeful with a total disregard for the site's surrounding context. On 2 separate occasions my design team advised them that the output was inadequate and after losing patience we terminated the relationship. The worst part may be that they believe their work was of a high standard and have taken legal action to be paid for the rest of the project... Avoid like the plague

Thank you so much for your work! Archanaeum offered excellent support and service throughout and were extremely helpful and friendly. They designed our side-return extension for our terraced London house and came up with some brilliant options on kitchen and internal layouts which really maximised use of the space as well as keeping forecasted build costs to a minimum to fit within our tight budget. They really listened and understood what we wanted to get out of our extension and the type of living environment we were aiming for. They also managed the planning process from start to finish, which was a big help. Can't fault them! Would definitely recommend using them if you need architecture and design services! Ollie

We hired Chris for our residential conversion project and he was extremely professional, efficient and knowledgeable. He answered all our requests really quickly and created a plan with some really clever suggestions that made our project better than we could have imagined. He handled all the planning permission process so it was completely pain-free for us. We can't recommend him highly enough.

Chris and Kuan of Archanaeum have handled a fairly complex flat renovation that has gone through several re-thinks extremely well (and very patiently!), making excellent suggestions and following them up diligently despite the tricky circumstances (the COVID-19 pandemic) and an encroaching deadline.

In summer 2017 we purchased a weekend home in the East Neuk of Fife. The Home Report stated the house had been built in 1780 and a neighbour advised it was the oldest house in the village. A year later we decided a small extension, while providing additional, valuable space would greatly enhance the look of the property. We engaged with Archanaeum and sent Chris photographs of the exterior and a sketch of our idea for the extension. Chris reviewed our idea and did a little research on the property. It was determined the property was listed, we were aware of this, and situated in a conservation area which we were not. Chris stated that whilst not impossible these aspects would make things more difficult. We instructed Chris to liaise with Fife Council Planning Department to get things started. The process took five months but we were finally granted approval. We were delighted with the outcome. .

We have been working with Chris from Archanaeum for a little while now, with the main consideration relating to a project in Clapham. Chris has provided sound courteous advice, creative architectural suggestions and high quality drawings, is efficient and keeps on top of managing the project. Chris is flexible in his working approach ensuring all loose ends are covered and sees the job through to completion even if the planning evolves to a different finish line from what was first anticipated. Archanaeum were recommended to us and we would be happy to recommend them on.

Their expertise is clear and they have provided inventive ideas on how to get the project completed in a cost effective manner. They did a really very good job. Chris, who manages this business, gave a great level of service and the company as a whole were very professional. The designs he came up with were better than we had thought possible given the restraints of our project – really innovative. We have actually recommended Archanaeum to some friends of our (not something we do lightly!) who are using them to have an extension built. We would use these guys again any day
