I recently engaged with Dennis at Dennis Hellyar Architects. Dennis performed a review of proposed plans on our side and rear extension project. As ever Dennis's depth of knowledge was second to none. He pinpointed and raised several areas which may have been an issue and needed looking in to further. Whilst pinpointing the areas Dennis provided constructive feedback, which was simple and logical. After addressing the point raised the overall scheme/project fell in to line. I would recommend discussing potential projects with Dennis and trust his extensive knowledge. Very easy to communicate we and easily takes points on board and explains in a simplistic manner.

As soon as Dennis came up to the farm, he was full of ideas. We weren't wed to any particular way of renovating and extending so were glad to hear thoughts about how the house could be changed. There was a 'suggestion' for a change in the plans from our local planning office but Dennis overcame this easily and infact, it worked to our benefit. We love our extension and how it has made our lives less cramped and full of light and fresh air!

Dennis came to look at what we thought was a straightforward basement extension, and immediately saw the potential to make it a far bigger, brighter space by breaking through to the upper floor and putting in a spiral staircase and upstairs sunroom. He then guided us through the planning application, the building tender, and the structural planning then oversaw the project and budget with great expertise. His calm, practical advice was invaluable at helping us navigate the inevitable challenges we struck along the way. We love living in the wonderful space he helped us create. I can't recommend Dennis highly enough.

We've done a few building projects before, but this was the first time we'd used an architect, so we were a bit apprehensive. However, Dennis managed to develop a vision for the extension and remodelling of part of our house that we would never have dreamt up without him. He took our basic ideas and practical requirements and fitted everything we wanted into a beautiful, clean, open space that unites our kitchen, dining room, utility room, cloakroom and garden seamlessly. Importantly for us, it has enhanced our 1937 house without destroying the integrity of the original design that we love. His plans were extremely detailed, so everyone knew what was expected, and he visited regularly to make sure the project was progressing as planned, and to solve any issues that arose. He dealt sensitively with the local authority building department in order to achieve the desired look, whilst conforming fully with all building regulations. We are thrilled with the result.

In 2014 my wife and I purchased a 1960s detached house in dire need of a face lift.
Whilst we had our own ideas we needed an architects input and we were lucky enough to find Dennis Helyer.
He took on board our ideas put also had some refreshingly modern suggestions which we incorporated.
He dealt with everything for us drawing up plans , submitting to the L A and liaised withe the tradesmen on our behalf, in a very efficient way and am pleased to say we actually moved in on time.
None of this would have possible without Dennis.
I can recommend him to provide a very efficient and professional service.

We hired Dennis following a personal recommendation and it was a decision we did not regret. Dennis listened to our aspirations for the new kitchen-diner we wanted to create and developed a plan that optimised light, incorporated all the elements we wanted giving us a space that we absolutely love to spend time in. He lead the tender process to source the builder and ensured we were supported during the build.
Now that it's complete we spend such a lot of time in the new room, delighting in the layout, space and especially the light and warmth. We are thrilled with the result.

Commented: Really like the extention...can you tell me what the roof covering is?Hi Huw. The roof covering is EPDM, adhesive fixed to OSB Plywood. Very tough material. Will need a tile on top to finish it as otherwise can be penetrated by heels like stilettos
