Giles Architects have been fantastic since our initial meeting to project completion. At our first meeting Alex listened tentatively to what we were hoping to achieve and we were amazed when we received their proposal the following day at how much of the detail we had spoken about was included in that. It was this attention to detail that made us choose Giles Architects to design our new home. We had several designs drawn up that covered different floor plans and exterior looks. These also gave us options when it came to the budget. They took on board our ideas but also gave us lots of fresh ones and made us look at the project in a new light several times. This was extremely helpful, as like most people, this was a process that was new to us. We never felt that we were having anything imposed on us however and everything was collaborative. Once we had a strong idea of which direction we wanted to go in, Alex suggested that we should submit a Preplanning Application as our property is in the South Downs and and the planning office there are notoriously fickle. I cannot speak highly enough about the document that Alex put together for this. In fact, on our first meeting with the South Downs planning officer she commented that it was extremely rare for them to receive a Design and Access statement of such high quality and it had in fact made her job so much easier. This put us on a great footing with the planning office and throughout the whole process of the planning and build stages, Alex's rapport with the planning office was excellent and undoubtedly helped us achieve what we required. Throughout the build Giles Architects were always accessible and worked very well with the contractor and engineers involved. They were adaptable when they had to be but never lost sight of the final goal and always showed the greatest interest in achieving the best home they could for us. As you can probably tell, we could not recommend Giles Architects highly enough.

We used Alex to do our drawings for an extension, kitchen, lounge, dining room combined, absolutely brilliant results.

Giles Architects really listened to our needs and cleverly resolved a number of layout issues, vastly improving flow and giving us more usable space without the need to extend. Their design respects and enhances our period home while reimagining the layout for modern family living. We now have wonderful open spaces for cooking, dining and relaxing, with much more light, fantastic views of the garden and easier access.

We used Alex to produce working drawing for our new build project on the isle of Wight. He clearly 'knows his stuff' and produced not only amazingly detailed drawing for all aspects of the design but also suggested several design features, all of which we adopted. Can't recommend Giles Architects highly enough and wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future.

We asked Alex to come and view our property to discuss an idea we had for an extension, when Alex came he gave us full confidence that he was the architect for the job. Alex was very enthusiastic and knowlegeable and had some great ideas. After agreeing a very reasonable price for the design work Alex came up with the inital design and after a few ammendments this was submitted for planning. Planning approval was recieved at the first attempt! this was for a two storey extension of approximatly 120m2. We would highly reccomend Alex and Giles Architects.

Alex was recommended to us by a friend, and I would certainly recommend him (and have!) to anyone else! Alex helped us design an a side and rear extension to our kitchen/dining room and introduced subtle design proposals which really lifted and enhanced our idea of what the space could be. He coordinated seamlessly with our structural engineer to produce robust and detailed drawings for our builders to price accurately and efficiently. Alex also took the lead on all planning matters, submitting all necessary details for the planning process. Alex was always at the end of the phone or an email to provide an update on planning, design, or answer a quick we may have had. It was a pleasure to work with Alex, and as others have said, we have no hesitation in highly recommending him and his services.

We couldn't be happier with the service provided by Alex to help us design a ground floor kitchen/diner extension. He listened to what we wanted and came up with a number of alternative ideas and designs to achieve this. He was always helpful, friendly and professional and managed everything from the initial design through to organising a structural engineer and successfully obtaining planning permission. All the builders that we approached for a quote for our project commented on how good the drawings were! Alex designed my garden Studio and it has has gone above and beyond in exceeding my expectations. Alex helped us to design a beautiful garden room. He had to cope with working with a difficult slope in the garden worked both with that and the existing style of the house to create a beautiful space that we are going to enjoy using.He made the whole process as easy as possible for us,dealing with the planning department on our behalf. We used the services of Alex to design a link extension between the main house and the annex along with a redesign of the surrounding living spaces of both existing buildings in order to create a modern, light and useable space for family living. Alex was extremely helpful in the preliminary design stages when we needed guidance and suggestions to form a design on which to expand upon. The developement/planning stage included excellent visuals that really helped solidify our requirements. Planning application was also handled by Alex, he was very active in supporting and chasing the assigned council planning officer. Very pleased with the outcome, Highly recommend his services.

We contracted Alex to work on the design and renovation of our 1960s 3 bedroom semi-detached house in Winchester. It has been a pleasure to work with Alex throughout our project. We have been able to work collaboratively; Alex has brought our ideas to life with his contemporary designs adding his own thoughts and ideas. He has been very helpful with his advice and guidance throughout this whole process, which we are new too. I commissioned AV Studios to come up with a contempary design that would transform our rather drab looking 1960's bungalow to something modern and out there. They came up with several outstanding designs , one of which we selected. Thier creative and innovation design ideas were truly magnificient . So a big thank you to AV studios, for all your ideas, and support during the project.

After our initial briefing Alex presented us with a number of alternative designs, all of which were excellent. Once the design was agreed, Alex submitted them to the planners and liaised with the planning authority to ensure there were no issues. To our delight, the plans were approved quickly and without alteration. Alex's communication skills and attention to detail are excellent and we would not hesitate to use him in the future.

We used AV Studio for work on our home and the service and expertise was outstanding. The ideas, planning process and technical stage were all enjoyable and painless, the 3D drawings were very helpful for us and the planning department. We were given good advise and always kept well informed start to finish. We have recommended Alex many time and will continue to do so. Looking forward to working with AV Studio on our next project. Alex designed and managed a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom loft conversion on my period terrace property in South East London. Alex was professional, accommodating and clearly has an eye for detail that we found very useful throughout the project. His way of communicating is clear and concise so that non-architects can understand what is being proposed, what options there are and what are the consequences. We were very happy with service and remain very happy with the final product. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Alex to others.

Alex did a fantastic job in designing our ground floor kitchen extension (4 m x 5 m) And we couldn’t be happier with the result – His ideas of the full height window and huge roof lantern really make the space. Alex was also very helpful at assisting with various issues throughout the build which were outside his remit. We gave Alex a short brief for our single storey rear and side extension and he came back with a number of important questions relating to aspects of the build we hadn’t thought of. He kept in contact during the design stage to ensure he didn’t undertake any abortive work, and liaised on our behalf with the planning team. He gave great advice relating to materials, and the end design was better than we had ever envisaged.

Alex has worked with us on a loft extension and a kitchen side return, both of very high standard. Alex spends a lot of time making sure projects are carried out to his spec, is passionate about what he does and above all delivers at a reasonable price. Would not hesitate to recommend and will be using in the future on larger projects.
