Studio HEDG Architects is an architectural studio based in Colchester, North Essex. We believe the spaces we live and work in have a great influence on us, and a good design can improve our health and wellbeing. As a company we pride ourselves in having a strong eye for detail and a passion for construction and materials. We create Inspiring and elegantly crafted architecture, which works within its context and is designed for those who live and work in it. Our designs are born from a continuous dialogue and collaboration with client and consultants, making the process of building simple and enjoyable.

We worked with Cheryl and Gemma on a challenging brief in a Conservation area, within the grounds of a grade 2 listed building. The designs were sympathetic and modern, picking up cues from the main building with an eye on conversation. Thoroughly recommend.

These guys were such a dream to step onboard our project and literally give us utter confidence that everything was in hand. The amount of detail that was taken in putting together our planning application really left me feeling like there was no way it would get declined! Thorough, considerate, lovely, detailed, communicative, kind and blooming brilliant at what they do clearly! We would highly recommend them! Thank you for taking away AAAAALLLLL of our stress on this one. Could not be happier with the end product here xx

Cheryl was very professional and very easy to talk to regarding our ideas for the project. Our existing floorplan and various floor levels made the project complex but Cheryl and her team provided a really comprehensive design to achieve what we wanted. The animated programme provides an excellent visual in addition to the plans so that we had a really good understanding of what the changes would look like. We would highly recommend Appleby Blanco

Having decided to extend our cottage, which has a Grade 2 listing attached, we knew we would need to get an experienced architect who had the knowledge and expertise in dealing with the local English Heritage Planning Department. Cheryl Appleby from Appleby Blanco designed our project and without her expertise and excellent communications, as well as working alongside with a Listed Planning Consultant, our project may never have got off the ground. It’s transformed our home and has given us the extra rooms we never thought possible. Thank you
