In Ex Design

We selected In Ex Design as we really felt aligned with the owner Julie-Ann. We reviewed her previous projects and really liked the results. Upon meeting Julie-Ann, we realised she would make an excellent partner for us. Have to say, we have been really impressed with her work, ethics, ideas and overall performance whilst working alongside us. It helps that we have very similar tastes in style and approach. Julie-Ann is direct in a professional, confident way and not to sound 'cliched', but she gets the job done to her exacting standards. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Julie-Ann. We are delighted with our renovated home, it is exactly how we envisaged it to look. I must add one more point, the whole interior was demolished and rebuilt, not a small house, so the project was in depth. It was made possible with In Ex Design's expert input.

From a design perspective presented a number of excellent solutions, and ideas i'd never have considered or thought existed! The design was such that gave me what i wanted, but also reduced build costs through small simple changes to features that allowed cleaner lines and considered services to and from each area of the house. Julie-Ann and In Ex Design were the perfect professionals who approached our outdoor project with an innovative, thoughtful design and everything was executed with a “can do” attitude. The scope of the work was a rear courtyard renovation, outdoor kitchen, terraced garden, privacy planting and front garden design and planting. From every angle the design is stunning! The attention to detail, the choice of materials, colour scheme and the selection of the Contractor were key elements of the success of the project. Julie-Ann worked well with the Contractor to ensure a high standard of finish. The outdoor kitchen and garden has given us an inspired place to relax and enjoy dining and entertaining. The courtyard is now a extension of our living area, and the “egg” shaped large ground lights make a huge statement. Julie-Ann is passionate about plants and landscapes. She produced a stunning planting schedule, selected key trees and plants personally. Her use of olive trees and ornamental grasses with angled feature low walls for the front garden is testament to her talent. I would highly recommend In-Ex Design. We love our home! We have so enjoyed working with Julie-Ann and team designing a family home. We worked with Julie-Ann last year on planning the renovation of our family home. We also looked at demolishing and total rebuild. Whilst we decided not to pursue the renovate/build option and subsequently bought a brand new house, the ideas Julie came up with were exciting and working with her us a real buzz! Review Rear Extension at 16, Lawn Road. When my wife, Vicki, and I moved to Exmouth about two and half years ago, we bought a three bedroom Victorian terraced house in Lawn Road near the town centre which we thought offered us good accommodation with potential for improvement. We took our ideas for a kitchen and dining area extension to Julie-Ann at in In-Ex Design to turn into a realistic design whilst working within a very tight budget. Our brief to her was to make a space as large as possible within a limited area that would have as much natural light as could be achieved, a large kitchen area together with an eating and sitting room. Julie-Ann and her team turned our ideas into reality with a great plan that incorporated all our ideas, they came up with solutions and solved problems that were encountered and with a clever design which eventually made it affordable to build. Julie-Ann also sourced us a great builder in Alan Hillman. After a couple meetings with Julie-Ann, ourselves and Alan, he and his team were able to build the extension to Julie-Ann’s plans resolving any small problems he came across as he went along. Alan and his team were very professional, fun and friendly, clean and tidy clearing up every evening without fail, they were extremely patient with us when we were making decisions on the finer details. We are now enjoying a fabulous living space with an amazing glass ceiling throughout, giving us loads of light and warmth from the sun warming up our sandstone tile floor even in the winter. With In-Ex Design’s plan we have loads of room for a large modern kitchen plus eating, sitting and family room creating what was high on the list, a fabulous entertaining space. The redundant dining room has been transformed into a utility/boot room with downstairs loo with space left for a walk in larder. We are more than delighted with our extension which has that wow factor, Julie-Ann’s ability to “see” our vision is testament to her ability to ask the right questions in order understand our ideas for the space. We would highly recommend her and her team at In-Ex Design.

I enrolled Julie-Ann at In Ex Design to create a family home as well as a show home for my High End Audio Visual Business. The house was originally a Bed & Breakfast and was in need of a total refurbishment along with a large extension to move the living area to the back of the house. It wasn't just the architectural elements but the whole design solution including the garden and interior designs. Julie-Ann and the team were great to work with, and the end product has ended up taking front cover of the Exeter Living Magazine. The amazing space they created incorporated my discreet audio visual solutions in every room, even in the original Victorian part of the house. She left no stone unturned through out the development, picking up on even the smallest detail, which in turn has created the final product which I'm proud not only to call my home, but also to bring potential clients to, to showcase my business.....and every response is the same.....WOW! As a garden designer working mainly in East Devon I was delighted to be involved from the onset of this project to deliver this exacting client a garden concept that totally complimented In Ex's cutting edge design for a large new extension. Masterfully designed to fully integrate into the back of a small Victorian town house, the extension makes the most of an overlooked and awkward shaped plot, to provide a light modern family room and first floor bedroom accommodation of generous proportions. It makes no apologies in its modernity yet, through clever use of materials, sits well next to its Victorian neighbours. Both house and garden are to be a South West show room for this client's high end Audio Visual business that will allow him to refocus his mainly London based work and enjoy both living and working in Devon. It was imperative that the designs for the extension and garden accommodated and complimented the state of the art technology that would allow the client to demonstrate to prospective customers its huge lifestyle enhancing benefits. I have been impressed by this architectural practice's vision, high quality of presentation and level of communication during the project so far and I look forward to helping deliver with them a contemporary building and garden that both In Ex Design & Lookout Landscapes can be very proud of.

I am so pleased I asked Julie-Ann to design the refurbishment of my house. From the Dormer extension for the master bedroom suite, to redesigning the kitchen and dining room to make one big open plan room, to the ground floor shower room and utility and even redesigning the patio area, Julie-Ann and her team have through their knowledge, experience and attention to the smallest detail, given me a beautiful home.
