Kalm Architecture is an architectural practice established in 2007 and based within the East Lothian and Edinburgh regions. Its two partners, Kevin Adams and Lucy Miller, both have over 12 years experience as qualified architects and in this time have worked on many high quality projects for a broad client base that includes arts, housing and commercial development. Kevin Adams combines practice with his role as a part-time tutor and visiting critic at Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. kalm architecture has been shortlisted for both the Edinburgh Architectural Association Building of the Year Award and the Saltire Award for Best Private House in 2012. kalm architecture will consider projects from all sectors and will provide a service from conception through to site completion.

Lucy was not fazed by our need to get the house finished in double quick time . Our project was never going to be a "grand design" but within the constraints she came up with some good ideas .

Our desire was to maintain the elegance of the original house, whilst simultaneously maximising natural light and harnessing the potential of the surrounding views. It also had to work as a family house providing large open easy to navigate spaces. Guidance was sought on how to create a large dynamic space to connect the old house seamlessly with a contemporary new build. Working with Kevin was very enjoyable, I found his design for our house brave and exciting, immediately I could see a high level of inventiveness in the bespoke design which enabled me to have total confidence in the project and hand all the detailing, right down to the coat hooks entirely to him. I was comfortable to have very little input in the design element of project, as I felt it would have given a confusing result, we are thrilled with the finished product. I would not hesitate in recommending Kalm architecture in fact I am already planning our next project.

We live in a Victorian villa in north Edinburgh and commissioned Kalm Architecture to create an extension linking our kitchen and sitting room, and opening up access to our back garden. Kevin's thoughtful creation has totally transformed our home. Five years on from the build, it is looking better every day and has been a joy to live with. Now, faced with a leaking first floor conservatory, we had no hesitation in commissioning Kalm Architecture again to help us with this too.
