When the opportunity arose to buy, restore and renovate a red brick double fronted Victorian town centre house, which I had spotted and immediately seen its potential as our six person family home, q2 offered the way forward. The house had been ripped apart and empty for three years and Kate came alongside me, saw the vision I had and interpreted it in a creative, thoughtful and skilled manner. We developed a relationship that allowed for the evolution of our family’s vision, mixing contemporary and traditional design, original features and modern spins...and a year later, we moved in to our home. It was a labour of love and Kate was absolutely at the centre of this transformation, her expertise, quiet assurance and intense desire to understand my vision allowing it to come together.

I would definitely recommend Kate and q2 Architects. We already had an established relationship from different pieces of work Kate has done in the past. So when I decided, somewhat nervously, to refurbish my first floor flat it was only natural to contact Kate again. She didn't disappoint. This project was to redesign the whole internal space of the flat, excluding the bedrooms. It included a new bathroom and relocation of the kitchen and opening up the living space. My flat has been completely transformed and I love it. Kate took time to really listen to the things that were important to me and then incorporated them into her design. I cannot recommend Kate highly enough for anyone embarking on a similar project. From the outset Kate was her usual professional self, with her trademark attention to detail. The whole experience was collaborative and reassuring and I ended up thoroughly enjoying the whole refurb.

I would thoroughly recommend q2 Architects. Kate and her team have recently designed and overseen a major renovation of our 400 year old cottage which required a sympathetic modern extension. It was an awkward sloping triangular site where the garden was integral to the design. We asked for a number of ideas and the final choice, with its light and airy rooms is a great foil for the traditional cottage beyond where the renovations were sympathetic and stylish. It is a joy to be living in it. Kate's enthusiasm and positivity shone through the whole process of design and build. She is very professional with a wide range of experience and knowledge in all aspects of design and architecture. She does not compromise style for practical ideas. Kate and the q2 Architects team absolutely exceeded our expectations during our build and we're really pleased with the result. She took time to understand how we may need the house to flow within the plot and through the existing house, and created the double and single extension and reconfiguration of our small cottage in a village conservation area to double the existing footprint and create a home we love. Kate was approachable and considerate throughout the process and had a great blend of clever ideas for creating a functional space, as well as for interesting details to enhance the wow factor of the house which we would never have thought of. This was a big project for us and it needed to be right and from the from initial ideas, drawing up our concept design, assisting with the planning application and then hands on support and overview through the build process, Kate was meticulous with details needed for the smooth running of the build and we had absolute confidence that she was keeping a close eye on things throughout. She was also great at working with the builders to ensure that we both met with the necessary building regulations and spotting things on site if they weren't quite right so that the build was of the highest quality. This was a huge project for us and Kate was absolutely integral to the success of the build and us being able to enjoy the process and have a home we loved at the end of it.
