Linda Dawson Architect Ltd

I’m Linda Dawson, a chartered architect practicing across Edinburgh, East Lothian and the Lothians. My approach is grounded in the belief that thoughtfully designed spaces profoundly influence how we feel and live. I work closely with clients to create architecture that is elegant, sensitive to its context, and tailored to the way individuals and families inhabit their homes. I founded Linda Dawson Architect in 2009 after ten years of experience with award-winning practices, including Malcolm Fraser Architects in Edinburgh, Conran and Partners in London, and RMJM Scotland Ltd. This background has shaped a design approach that blends technical rigour with creative problem-solving and careful attention to detail. My practice specialises in projects that require a delicate balance between heritage and contemporary design — particularly listed buildings, stone homes, and properties within conservation areas — where introducing new interventions demands both respect for original fabric and a clear vision for modern living. I enjoy working with clients who value well-crafted architecture, whether through sensitive extensions, bespoke new homes, conversions, or renovations. Every project is bespoke, grounded in quality materials, thoughtful spatial organisation, and an enduring aesthetic. I also offer a Concept and Feasibility Package that helps clients explore design potential and planning constraints early in the process, giving you clarity and confidence before committing to a full project. If you’re considering an extension, renovation, or new build that celebrates both heritage and contemporary living, I’d love to hear about your ideas.
