Trying to find an architect is somewhat of a lottery , but we struck lucky with Ashley . He is professional, approachable and creative . He went above and beyond in the service he provided and helped us with the design , building regulations , planning, insurance and procurement . The service included not only plans but computer generated images of the reworked rooms which made it so much easier to visualise. He provided a comprehensive spec for the building contract , advised on the contract prices received and gave input throughout the build . He was also very reasonable we found ! We are delighted with the project result . He was a joy to work with and I would have no hesitation in recommending his services . The project ; the remodelling of a cottage to include the removal and reworking of a staircase and fireplace to create additional living and bedroom space and introduction of a second shower room. We would highly recommend Ashley whom we found to be a true professional. We sought Ashley's assistance with the design and build of an office pavilion building in the garden and, from our first contact with him we found him to be extremely helpful. He always made sure that he thoroughly understood our requirements and provided innovative and detailed concept designs for us. He was more than happy to spend as much time as we needed talking through our options and was able to make site visits and also chat via Google Meet. He provided very helpful advice in relation to materials, location, size etc and recommended a Passivhaus expert to advise us as to the environmental aspects of the build. It was our intention to use Ashley to project manage the build to completion but, sadly, due to our own personal circumstances we were unable to proceed further than Stage 2 concepts. We certainly hope that, in the not too distant future, we are able to proceed again with our project. When we do we will certainly be back in touch with Ashley. We cannot recommend him too highly!

Ashley was recommended to us and has played an integral part in every aspect of our project. He is a visionary, who combines creativity with a great knowledge of planning; something that is increasingly important. So far we have had a smooth and stress-free experience. We are at the end of stage 2 - beginning of stage 3 with Ashley. I found Ashley professional, incredibly competent but also really thoughtful and understanding of the needs/demands of his clients. His designs are interesting and creative, but still functional and not outlandishly conceptual/wild designs etc. We were very happy with the suggestions he made - again due to his ability to understand our needs/interests rather than put his own thoughts forward. He is super punctual, reliable and was incredibly flexible with meeting our availability in terms of time. So in sum, if you want something that is not your bog standard architectural design - something unique and your own, yet something that is still functional and don't cost the heavens, he is the person for you. Highly recommended!

Great to see that architect does not just mean someone drawing up fancy designs, but rather someone that investigates heavily what is possible and where the restrictions are, and then thinks up nice designs based on it. I can very much recommend Littlewood Architecture.
