I chose Oakwrights over other Oak frame suppliers because of their attention to detail and quality of the product. An Oakwrights house comes with an assurance that the product is probably one of the best on the market and that in itself provides the provenance to support a self build mortgage and future proof the asset. Really pleased with the outcome so far, I'll post and update when it's finished....

Oakwrights designed our Passivhaus-certified house from scratch and supplied and erected the oak frame and insulation system. They also recommended three building firms for us to consider for the other building work. The entire design and build project was stress-free and most enjoyable. We are over the moon with the result. Not only is our house extremely energy efficient but, importantly, has the highest levels of indoor comfort: it's draught-free, has a constant supply of fresh air, the temperature is constant regardless of what's going on outside, and the brilliant Oakwrights-designed windows and external doors flood it with daylight as well as provide fantastic views. We were also delighted to win the Build It Best Eco-Home accolade in 2021, the judges saying: ‘By showing that beauty and sustainability go hand-in-hand, this Passivhaus-rated project ticks all the boxes for an eco-house whilst harnessing the unique character of oak'. This sums it up for us: we have a wonderful-looking oak-frame house that performs even better than expected: we use less energy than the Passive House Planning Package predicted (61.65 vs 98.0 kWh.m2) with 'overheating' (being over 25degC) happening on 0.57% of the year against a predicted 1.9% (the Passivhaus standard is 10%). Based on our experience we'd recommend Oakwrights for both oak frame and passive house design: experience the Passivhaus difference!

We engaged Oakwrights to design and build an oak framed detached house with attached swimming pool wing. Our visit to Herefordshire to stay in an Oakwrights house at the outset of the process confirmed both our choice of house style as well as the company we felt most confident moving forward with. The build went extremely smoothly, with excellent project management and communication with us as customers throughout. Our requirements for the house were carefully considered and artfully incorporated in the design by the architect. We were kept informed at every stage and communication with every member of the Oakwrights team, whether on site or at their Herefordshire HQ was always positive, informative and helpful. The house is incredibly well insulated and both the external and internal oak frame are stunning. We are absolutely delighted with the completed house and look forward to enjoying many years here.

Oakwrights... wow!, where do i start....? I was approached by Oakwrights back in 2004 to potentially start doing some design and development work together. I had recently set up my own design studio, PJT Design and as I am a timber frame guy at heart, getting this call seemed very special at the time. Oakwrights back then were around 20 strong and perhaps now they are close to 10 times that many employees, so it is safe to say that the last near 20 years has been an exceptional journey together. I have been a member of the Oakwrights design team since getting that call and we now design around 15-20 projects a year for our clients across the UK. As a company, Oakwrights are second to none. The business was founded by carpenters and that passion for the craft of oak framing is clearly evident by all that work there. In addition to designing amazing oak framed homes and securing the necessary permissions, we also offer full turnkey build solutions, which means any of our clients have a 'one-stop shop' scenario available to them where we really can take lines on pieces of paper all the way through to a completed home. It was great to work with the team at Oakwrights to create a pavilion building for the Hay Festival. This structure as an eco-build was all about resting lightly on the earth. Oakwrights have that approach to their work and manage also to incorporate all the modern regulations required.

We have all done it. Researched the Internet for a product, made an appointment with the representative and listened to the spiel...with perhaps a hint of scepticism. Is it really all just sales patter? However, having dealt with Oakwrights, I can honestly say that all of the promises were delivered. The project ran to time, the materials were of a superior quality and the workforce were truly a credit to the company. The finished triple garage building was excellent. I could not fault anyone who contributed to the completion of the build, from sales person to project manager to joiner. And, having initially researched comparable companies, Oakwrights came in at an extremely competitive price which I considered excellent value for money. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Oakwrights to any prospective customers.

Oakwrights built for us a large oak outbuilding (90m2) footprint. We were looking for something special and bespoke. We wanted a large open plan area downstairs to provide uninterrupted workshop space, and similarly upstairs we wanted an uninterupted entertains space/games room. Many companies (eg Primeoak) said it wasn't possible. But the designers at Oakwright worked with us and came up with a beautiful solution. The device from design through to construction was superb. They did exactly what they promised when they promised so we couldn't ask for much more. Very satisfied with the end outcome and would not hesitate to recommend Oakwrights.

Oakwrights built a two bay oak garage, oak garden room, and porch at my house. The service was excellent, and the garage and garden room were each erected in two days by a very professional team. They visited recently six months afterwards when erecting another garage locally to see how we were going on.

Our first "in the flesh" viewing of the Oakwrights Kenchester barn-style garage we purchased was at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed - we were amazed at how spacious it was and the quality of the build was clearly excellent. Our requirement was for the building to be constructed on a pre-arranged base. We were delighted when we initially sought a quotation from Oakwrights to find it undercut the nearest estimate we had by £4000! The whole process of erecting the frame and tiling took three men three days from start to finish, which was amazing. They were totally professional and courteous and kept us informed of progress throughout. The end result is fantastic and gets much admiration from visitors and friends alike.
