Designing professionally since 1985, we offer a ‘specific to you’ concept design service that’s more technical than an interior designer mood board, but not as technical as an Architect’s set of drawings.
We don't sell product - so are completely unbiased, We are freelance concept planners - designing kitchens, bedrooms or even whole homes with you, allowing you to then shop around and compare like for like and negotiate the best prices.
Our office is open Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 (UK time zone)
The 'Out of office' email may bounce to Houzz, rather than you, if you hit the 'contact me' button out of office hours ! But we will contact you when the office opens next !
Please be aware that if your plans involve construction works, they may be covered by regulations relating to health and safety known as the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. These apply to all construction work in Great Britain, including domestic projects such as replacing a kitchen or reconfiguring your space. As a commissioning client, you have duties under these regulations to make suitable arrangements for managing your project, including allocating time and resources, in order to ensure that your works can be carried out without risks to health and safety and that they will be safe once they are completed. We will be a designer under the regulations, and will prepare our design so that it eliminates foreseeable health and safety risks to you, your family and visitors and your contractor(s), but we cannot take on your overall duties under the regulations, nor can we act as principal designer. It may be that your contractor (if you are appointing only a single builder) will take on both of these roles on for you, and we recommend that you check the position with them and make sure that they are aware of the regulations and everyone’s duties under them.

Karen was a LIFE-SAVER. Took all the stress out, really speedy with responses, loads of great ideas and best of all - not pushy as she's not trying to sell you anything, just give you great advice. She's obviously a cook herself so is always thinking about how the space will actually be used, rather than just how it looks. Cannot recommend her highly enough.

Little did we know the breakfast cabinets Karen designed would house all the homeschool paraphernalia during lockdown! Karen managed to squeeze quite a lot into our little kitchen-diner. Every inch of wallspace is functional. We’ve got under seat storage, a tall larder, understair pantry and a square peninsula for food prep and dishing up. All thanks to Karen’s excellent design service. Lockdown has proved it works as a kitchen/ school/ home office/ ‘Covid cafe’ where snacks are always available (if you’ve had children at home during 2020 you’ll know what I’m talking about!). I shudder to think how awful lockdown would have been in our old kitchen. The best design idea was placing a crockery/ cutlery drawer next to the dishwasher. I don’t even move my feet to empty it. Genius! Thank you Karen, it’s a truly life enhancing design for our young family.

We were delighted with the one-day kitchen design service and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend One Plan. It was so helpful having an independent expert in Karen (- who is not tied to any one particular supplier) to advise us on configuring the space, what would and would not work, and where we could be flexible. We received a clear, detailed pdf document that made it really easy to get clear pricing from kitchen suppliers, and to help us fully visualise the result. This approach has saved us so much time and hassle and we can’t thank Karen enough.

Karen is amazing - I would highly recommend her. She’s so patient and accommodating. In just one day she’d designed our master suite with his and hers dressing rooms, something we’d struggled with for almost 7 years! I wish I’d met her years ago.

Would highly recommend Karen's services. We worked with her to design our open plan kitchen, dining and living space which was a really awkward space. We had explored some conventional design options at IKEA and Wren but they weren't able to really help us think about the space as a whole and what would work overall. Karen came up with some options for us, all which worked and then we were able to refine and hone the design over the week. I had been slightly worried about measuring up and drawing up a plan but Karen gave excellent advice and we Zoomed to confirm some of the final measurements. We had a brilliant planning meeting with Karen to make tweaks and alterations and now have a final design that we can use to get quotes from different suppliers.

Based on online reviews, many of them here on Houzz, we chose Karen at OnePlan to help us design our new kitchen / living / dining extension and adjacent utility room and snug.
She was brilliant to work with, thought of everything and provided us with really useful plans which we will now use to get supplier quotes.
I'm confident the cost of OnePlan's service will be more than paid back in terms of the value we will get from the design plus all the mistakes we avoided through Karen's very sound and knowledgeable advice.
Her process works really well too with having a fixed timeline to work to - it really helped us to focus on decisions in a timely way!

An absolute dream to work with and I genuinely am giddy with excitement (It's a good job I'm sitting down). I honestly can't recommend highly enough. I have just had the best design day experience ever. Far exceeded my expectations.
In spite of the fact that I had a very busy day of work, she showed great patience and responsiveness, adapted to my pace and vision immediately. I also valued being able to get an expert opinion on things like size and scope of integrated appliances. She educated me on equipment in a way that I have found invaluable and has made my small space look and feel so much bigger in a way that won't cost the earth!
The renders I received were top quality and my architect messaged me back immediately to say "Wow!" - and that is the impact her design is going to have on anyone who sees my new house.

I first made contact with Karen in December 2019, we were renovating an old house and extending the kitchen. I’ve never had a brand new kitchen before, so I really wanted some help to ensure we did it all right from the start. Karen gave us several ideas, and we quickly got it down to our favourite design. The CAD drawings and images were amazing, and really gave us an idea of what it would look like - and here we are 10 months later and it looks identical! Karen helped me with all sorts of bits and pieces throughout the project. Karen is brilliant at what she does, I would highly recommend her to anyone planning a new kitchen, she saved us a huge amount of hassle, and I think it all worked out cheaper because we didn't make any mistakes. I love my new kitchen, it is absolutely perfect! thank you Karen.

Had a fantastic week working with Karen. She came up with so many brilliant ideas. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was tailored to our family (and the dogs!). We now have a shopping list and fabulous 3D images that mean that all of us (and our builder) know we are talking about the same thing. I can’t recommend Karen highly enough. The service is more affordable than you think and worth every penny (which I am sure I will easily get back anyway from shopping around using the list Karen created).
