We engaged PWJ to design a ground floor extension to the rear of our family home together with alterations for an open-plan kitchen/living area. The service was excellent; optioneering, schematic and detailed design, planning, specification, builder selection. We thought they were very professional, friendly and supportive at all stages.

Having employed PWJ's service on an several occasions now, they run a very professional service, with a wide range of experience and knowledge in all aspects of design and architecture. They handle one very fast track project and met out deadline as well as some additional changes needed due to planning requirements.

PWJ Architects helped us restore our Edwardian home by designing a layout for modern family life whilst incorporating original period features. Rebecca and Jamie took time to understand our family before putting pen to paper, including any key furniture they needed to design into the space. Structural changes have opened out smaller rooms into a spacious flexible space. They helped us find a fantastic builder whose team was just right for the job. We enjoyed working with PWJ's team and love our beautiful new home!

Rebecca and Jamie have been fantastic. They listened to what we wanted to achieve, made sensible suggestions to meet our needs and then some clever ideas to use space we had not thought of. Their working relationship with various bodies including knowledge of local rules meant all our plans were approved first time around. As this project is our first major building works they are now helping us find a builder and are ensuring we're undertaking all appropriate surveys and steps to build our dream house.

When we were looking to employ an architect, Rebecca at PWJ really took the time to understand us as a family, how we wanted to live and what was important to us. She quickly assessed our house and what would be the best way to make use of our garden and position. We have been hugely impressed with both Rebecca and Jamie. As we are first timers to house building, they have been very thorough and understanding of our basic questions and despite some stumbling blocks with the council, PWJ have been able to act quickly and efficiently on our behalf to get planning permission. We are about to go into the next phase, but we had no hesitation in asking them to support us through this.

Unlike many architects who suggested they could draw up our ideas and designs on CAD, right from the start PWJ took a different approach. Respectfully suggesting we put aside our ideas and plans and instead asked us to explain what was important to us, how we live, who wants to use the different spaces and in effect set out a requirements list for our new/refurbished house. PWJ took on board our wants and needs and used their skill and experience to come up with an initial concept design which incorporated almost all our wishes. Then after a few iterations, discussions and education we settled on a design which met our requirements but was also sympathetic to the existing structure. Three weeks ago we had planning approval with no objections or preconditions. So far the experience has been very positive and I have found Rebecca and Jamie to be both professional and helpful but also straight talking and honest which I have found very useful. I would rate PWJ as 5 star but we are only through the first phase and so I am reserving judgement until the job is complete. So now we move to Building Regs and detailed design ready for going to tender. More later......
