It’s not often an architect designs a dwelling for another architect! The brief Robert received was for a retirement dwelling – two bedrooms with easily accessible en suites, low energy, low maintenance, all age user friendly, distinct in design, but blending with a forty year old property on the same grounds. Robert delivered the goods and more. We live in a house perfect for us – the comfort of a highly insulated home with underfloor heating and wood burning stove, the economy and health benefits of heat recovery and mechanical ventilation, the feel good factor of abundant natural light from heat resisting treble glazing, full height windows and, when the sun permits, the luxury of free hot water from solar panels integrated into the roof. Robert’s design skills were not confined to the indoors, but externally, the landscaping, patios and paving areas displayed our attractive build to its best advantage.
