REVIEW (A) I used the professional services of Shiels Design Ltd for the internal re-modelling of a 1980s house to create a larger kitchen, a home office and a utility room without extending the existing property. The new design was excellent and fulfilled the brief perfectly. Initially employed as architects, Shiels Design Ltd also offered a construction service which was delivered to the highest standard. The finished project surpassed expectations, added value to the property and, most importantly, created a greatly enhanced living style. I would recommend Shiels Design Ltd without hesitation. REVIEW (B) I had previously used the services of Shiels Design Ltd (see REVIEW A) so, when I purchased a large Victorian house in a conservation area overlooking the world heritage site of Snowdonia, I had no hesitation whatsoever in employing their architectural skills to design the major internal refurbishment of the property. This involved the installation of a 3-storey lift, the creation of ensuite bedrooms, open plan kitchen/dining, the conversion of a 1970s style flat roof dormer to reinstate the gabled pediment and a glazed balcony. Plans were smoothly navigated through the approval process. I invited Shiels Design Ltd to bid for the construction work as they had previously completed my design /build project on a different property to the highest standard. We successfully negotiated a contract to complete the building package; this was the best decision ever! It is accepted that working with older period buildings is renowned to present unexpected challenges. These problems were quickly overcome as Shiels Design Ltd possessed the architectural skill and expertise which enabled a swift resolution through the care and attention they gave to the building process. The refurbishment is complete and the house is now restored to superb glory.

Steve spent time discussing the design and we went through a couple of options. We really benefitted from seeing our thoughts on paper and CGI and thinking about what we wanted, then discussing with Steve we were able to perfect the design to our needs.

Steve and Dom Shiels proved to be an excellent choice. We found them on the internet. Our first meeting showed that they listened to what we wanted then added all sorts of interesting ideas and details for us to think about. They then designed a ground floor extension that had a footprint half the size of our original house. We disscused various options and then settled on a design. They dealt with planning permission with no problems. We were very fortunate that that they tendered to build it too. This was a complete joy. They were at our house everyday for several months and we never felt irritated. The precision and care they took at each stage was incredible. They always left the site clean and tidy. The final building is beautiful, with lots of details that make us think wow. We have lived in this hous for 38 years and have always loved it. We love it even more now. Thank you Steve and Dom.
