I used SJA for STRUCTURAL INSPECTION, and Structural calculations. Recently I needed a last minute change to some works, and Thomas BARKER, and his colleagues sorted the change out in not time. They are highly professional, very friendly and customer service is excellent. Top engineers! Thanks SJA and not to forget Tom.

We recently worked with SJA on a couple of domestic extension/renovation projects. Tom, Chris and the team were great to deal with. A client first and not ‘over engineered’ approach. Always happy to pick up the phone and talk through any queries. In particular around party wall which can be a daunting prospect. I look forward to working with them again in future.

SJA carried out party wall agreement works for an extension we have carried out to our flat. We found SJA to be clear and concise throughout the whole process with great communication both with ourselves and our neighbours which made a sometimes complicated procedure, very easy. We will definitely be returning to SJA for any future work and would recommend to others.

I’m happy to recommend Stuart James Associates. They were professional, friendly and supportive. They came up with great designs and helped me through the whole process including liaising with planning, helping me find a builder and providing advice as needed. I would certainly use them again.

SJA Consultants were employed to serve party wall notices to neighbouring properties and we found their services less than satisfactory for the following reasons: •Lack of communication throughout the procedure. •Very little historical research was undertaken to understand next steps in progressing the job. •Impersonal service shown through the surveyor not visiting our premises although he lived 10 minutes walking distance away. •Incorrect details such as putting the wrong header on an email regarding which flat needed to be contacted for signing a party wall agreement. •Lack of transparency in hidden costs which were unsubstantiated and excessive. •Financial budgeting was made difficult through vague quotes such as – ‘it will be at a reasonable cost.’ •The CHP (Complaints Handling Procedure) deters complaints as an independent assessor of the company’s choice is hired at the customer’s expense. The sum of money we have lost to this company is a substantiate amount and has caused great stress, anxiety and a distrust in building services that could be provided in the near future. I do hope that this honest review will help customers to make an informed choice about which Surveying company they choose to hire.

We have been working with Shelley and the team since May on a rear kitchen extension. I could not recommend them enough, they have supported us every step of the way from initial plans all the through to finding us a builder. From having no experience of taking on this type of project before they have hand held us through the whole process and their support and advise has been invaluable. They are always there to support and nothing is ever too much trouble. Would definitely recommend them as they are true professionals and offer a great service.

Stuart James Associates were great, I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Tom, the engineer was able to to come out and assess our wall the same day and provided a detailed report within a couple days. Would absolutely use them again.

Shelley and the rest of the team rescued us from a disastrous project that was already well ahead. She was very helpful suggesting various options to review it and bring it to completion. I really wish we had worked with them in the first place. Scopes and costings were kept clear and concise. They were always available to answer questions and discuss the project going through construction. They also have a very competent team of structural engineers, which makes communication so easy. I would highly recommend them, especially to anyone wondering if they should hire an architect or worried it might be troublesome. They are true professionals who will listen to you and help you make the most of your resources.
