STUDIO TASHIMA

Studio Tashima (Formerly Charles Tashima Architecture) is a London based studio of architects and designers with a reputation built on adaptation and appropriation to meet new requirements and uses at a range of scales. We celebrate innovation through the adaptation of existing spaces, places, materials and things – giving richness, purpose and value by creatively enhancing and transforming qualities already there. Adaptation is a form of innovation. Rather than assume predetermined strategies, we celebrate the improvisation of circumstances and requirements to reveal new and unforeseen design solutions. Working across a variety of programmes and scales – from the landscape to the city, house and single room – our approach is contemporary with a deep interest in responsively connecting to our environment and to our past. Architecture is not just a backdrop. It has the power to profoundly affect and transform how we live, work, learn and play.
