Studio Varey

I have worked with many architects and Nick Varey is by far the best. Not only is he a brilliant architect but he’s a great person to work with. We started off our project by re doing the kitchen. By the end of it we decided to do the whole house because we realised we had such a fantastic team. I am incredibly grateful to Nick for all the effort he put into our house.In my experience architects are either very creative and not very good at the organisational side OR very organised and not very creative. Nick is both organised and creative, which is rare. We would happily work with him again and again.

We approached Studio Varey in a time of need as we were having challenges with the existing team. Nick approached the project with great empathy. He’s an excellent listener, considered, measured, thoughtful in his responses and advice he provides, and we are grateful for all the support (practical and emotional!) Couldn’t recommend the Studio Varey team enough.

Nick has been such a pleasure to work with throughout each step of our remodel process. He was very attentive to details and was very responsive. Nick was always available to help with various obstacles and I would recommend him to anyone doing house works.

We had a feeling we might like Studio Varey having seen their portfolio online. We knew we had to work with them when we got our initial design ideas back from them - they had listened to and taken our ideas and hopes for our ground floor renovation/extension and blown us away with the options and opportunities we had available to us. Studio Varey managed the requisite paperwork for the entirety of the project, as well as helped us to narrow down our search for a construction team. I feel that we were really lucky to have had a great match between architect and builders - communication and understanding were fantastic throughout. Nick worked closely with the (also wonderful) construction team to develop solutions to the inevitable hiccups we had along the way. We were all present for weekly site meetings - a truly lovely way to see the hard work that all parties put in to a project - and you get to really appreciate having Nick around to ensure the execution of the vision is being adhered to! Studio Varey were professional, approachable and very responsive throughout. Their design is impeccable; it is an absolute joy to live in and we're proud to live in a Studio Varey design.

As a contractor working with an architect as informative as Nick is a god send. His approach to his work is impeccable and he is always happy to try and find the right solution for his clients even if it means a lot of head scratching on site. The detail on his drawings is a pleasure to work with and I look forward to many successful projects in the years to come with him.

I have personally recommended them many times to colleagues and friends alike, and would not hesitate to work with them again on my next project.

Fantastic work by Nick and the rest of the Studio Varey team. We commissioned Studio Varey Architects to re-design the ground floor of our home. Our brief looked to make the layout more sociable, bringing more light into the centre of the house and improving the connection with the rear garden so we could make more of it in the nice weather. We wanted the design to be simple but stylish and to work within the existing footprint of the house. We didn't want a standard 'knock-through' and felt Studio Varey’s work showed an ability to deliver the kind of home we were after. Nick was really easy to work with and clearly understood what sort of style we were after. The 3D images really helped us to visualise the design - it was so exciting to see the design! The 10 week build was straightforward with very little changing from the original plan. Nick was there through the whole process to manage and ensure our plan was delivered. We just love the end result - it is everything we wanted, and has that ‘wow’ factor!

Studio Varey have been so great to work with. From the start of the project we felt involved in the design process, and knew we had chosen the right architects to guide us through the whole process - in particular we found their extensive planning experience to be invaluable in obtaining the permissions we needed. Their thoughtful, creative and inclusive approach to the design process always had us feeling involved in the process. Our home is now one of carefully considered spaces, and design choices that respond to the way we live, and we could not be happier. We would not hesitate in recommending Studio Varey to others looking to undertake their own architectural project.

Studio Varey helped me extend my home last year. I wanted to create a larger kitchen, and to modernise my house (which hadn’t been worked on for some time). Nick and his team took me through the entire process, providing me with excellent guidance on matters that I have no knowledge on (planning, building control) - without their assistance, the project would not have been the success it was, and we could not be happier with our home, and the bright, open and welcoming place it now is. I could not recommend them more highly.

We were given Nick's details by a mutual contact, and he's been great since the first introductory phone call. His service, advice, designs and knowledge was excellent, and he interpreted our ideas and brief really well. As graphic designers, both my wife and I had a pretty clear vision of what we thought we wanted, but Nick was able to guide us in a slightly different direction without compromising our ideas. The end result was a complete transformation of our house, adding a new extension and re-working current areas into much better spaces. I'd recommend Nick to anyone.
