I bought a 2 bed detached bungalow and Ko and his team managed to get planning approval for a rear extension and raising a proper first floor, partially over this extension (almost doubling the living space). Due to issues within Hillingdon planning department, a decision on our application was delayed several months. Ko chased the council regularly, to the point where he involved the local councillor as well. Having such a lengthy interaction with the planning department, my personal opinion is that he established professionally a high bar and officers have learnt to respect the rationales behind our decisions. I can speculate that without his experience behind, planning department would not have been satisfied with the proposed plan. One more reason to work with an experienced architect. Very friendly and takes the time to offer thorough explanations for the decisions he makes, as well as guiding you through the potential alternative designs. Very good experience overall, learnt quite a bit from our interaction, very happy to recommend Ko and the team.

When we bought our 3-bedroom house, the previous owner told us she had explored every way of extending it. Six years after, we were ready for the loft conversion and rear extension. Several builders visited, but none of them was able to find a workable solution without losing one of the bedrooms. We then engaged with Your Architect. Kaushik and his team developed a solution nobody had envisioned so far, keeping 3 bedrooms on the first floor, allowing loft conversation while increase the overall practicality. This looked very appealing and we went ahead. At the time of writing, the project is fully completed, and we are enjoying our refurbished house. We now have 4 full size bedrooms, a separate utility room, and a study we would never have planned for. What is stunning is how practical and well thought it is: beyond the gain in square foot, everything is so convenient! It is almost like Kaushik and the team were guessing about our busy family schedule when they designed every details. Even the garden, which has been reduced to accommodate the rear extension, looks way more appealing and integrated (and surprisingly it looks bigger – even the kids say this). I would re-engage with Your Architect anytime. Surely there are plenty of builders who can propose loft conversion/extension on the market, but you need to think about day-to-day features and usability beyond gross square feet addition.
