Jefcoate Anderson Architects Ltd
Crossgatehall, East Lothian Architects and Building Designers
4 Oct 2014
“We used Gavin Jefcoate to design our new kitchen extension and complete remodel of the downstairs of our home. It's nearly 3 years since work started and we are still as pleased with the results as we were when it was first completed. The initial meetings quickly demonstrated that Gavin understood our brief of what we wanted and why we needed it. The resulting plan was a really exciting change for the house with bold creative elements which also integrated the practical solutions that at the time we were desperate for. Throughout the build Jefcoate Anderson provided project management which took away most of the stresses that go hand in hand with altering any home to this extent. We are still hugely pleased with the results and would strongly recommend using this firm if you are considering a build project.”

“Professional and friendly service. Advised and guided us through submission of listed building alteration plans involving original sash window replacements so as not to fall foul of regulations. Drew up plans, specs and recommended fitters plus general helpful advice.”

“2B were commissioned to provide concept drawings and take the design to planning approval and subsequent building warrant issue. At all stages they were courteous, kept to appointments made and listened to our requirements. The designs produced were of a high standard and matched with what our expectations were. We wanted a shell provision for an extension and some internal alterations for a full house renovation and they have assisted in other aspects as part of the remit which has helped us tremendously. Would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone”
Urban Creatures

“We selected Martin and Louise from Urban Creatures to design and manage the build of our house because we liked their portfolio and found that they understood our brief. As a result, the design process of the house did not take long and they provided many good ideas. Obtaining planning permission for our house was quite problematic, but Urban Creatures were very professional in dealing with the planning department. Despite them working to our budget, the quotes from the builders were at least 1/3 above our budget, which led to some changes and omissions. But at least that saved us from a lot of nasty surprises once the building work started. Urban Creatures supervised the whole building process and we had fortnightly meetings with both Urban Creatures and the builder to discuss progress and issues. Again, this was done in a very professional manner. Overall, we are very happy with the service provided by Urban Creatures. We would recommend them to others and would not hesitate to use them again.”

The Sumburgh Head Project was a great example of collaborative working: client; designers; contractors; etc. which delivered a project of the highest quality within time and under budget. “We were fortunate to know the owner and cannot recommend their services enough. DDS created the best use of our property and enabled us to get the most out of the floor space. In addition details & advice on areas such as lighting & layout were excellent and helped us visualise the property before work started. This in turn saved money & time which is never a bad thing. Great also with liaising with suppliers, builders and anyone working on the project. Never had an issue with flexibility and being firm where necessary on any modifications that were considered along the way.”
