“My husband and I have followed Michael Klement, the Principal at Architectural Resource, at the Ann Arbor home shows and remodeling tours for years. His passion for the work he does is evident in everything he does, and is delightful to listen to during his tours. We've visited every home that has been open for tours and no two are alike. His talent is so broad - from respecting a classic Italianate design, to creating a found-art energy efficient modern masterpiece. He excels at listening to what the customer is looking for and delivering perfection. He blends brilliant design with smart, efficient, architectural engineering. After years of dreaming of what Michael could do for us, we were finally in a position to consider hiring him. He met us at our home and talked with us about our "ultimate vision of living". We can see how this approach could lead to the perfect personalized homes that we had toured. He walked us through the design process and laid out an estimate for pricing. After the meeting I was so energized and excited that it took 2 hours to fall asleep (it was way past my bedtime!). Ultimately, we couldn't find a piece of empty property with the location / features we wanted for a price that would allow us to build new with Michael. So we purchased a home with "potential" and are saving up for the chance to do a remodel/rebuild with him on this property. We wouldn't dream of working with anyone else.”

In addition to detailed architectural drawings they provided three dimensional models showing what the home would look like after the renovation. It was an absolute delight to work with them and a major plus to work with a husband and wife team. Over the years we have worked with them several more times on various projects including expansion of a room through an exterior wall, redoing the deck, roof, and siding, adding additional windows to the home, etc. Each time they have been wonderful to work with. “We worked with Stan Monroe to design and build our home on land we had purchased several years earlier. Stan listened as we discussed how we wanted our home to work, and designed a floor plan that met our expectations in the contemporary style that we liked and that took into considerations the features of the lot on which the house was to be built. Interesting design features were incorporated as the design of the house evolved, and the result is a wonderful family home that is beautiful, comfortable and welcoming to guests. Any elements that exceeded budget were our own choices, and deadlines were met throughout the process. Some of my favorite design features are the ceilings, curved walls and the custom glass front door that Stan designed. He insisted that a glass door was the best choice for the front of out house. We did not like the front of the house being wide open to the street. Stan designed a sand-blasted pattern on the glass in the door that gave us privacy, and added a beautiful design element that echoed the other curves in the house. We have been in our home for 16 years and still love the design. The entire process was a pleasure.”

“Damian Farrell is architect’s architect. After interviewing over four architects for our mid-century modern remodel, it became clear that ideas do not come quickly to many architects. Most in fact required us to commit to over $30K to get even a faint idea of what they were thinking. Not Damian. He came with a sketchpad and after a 20-minute conversation, he started drawing. It is hard to describe the pleasure of living within a wonderfully designed home. The light, the angles, the view – all of these carefully arranged without being obvious. A Damian Farrell design feels right. Plus, Damian easily saved us twice his fee on on materials and labor. We recommend Damian for any design need, from multi use commercial to furniture. He is the best - the absolute best!”

“Molly Bachelor was our architect for a recent project that involved a new front porch with Azek deck and steps and a cedar ceiling, a new exposed-aggregate concrete front walkway with a solid steel blacksmith-crafted handrail, LED path lighting on cedar posts supporting the railing and along the walkway and driveway, and new paint on the plywood panels between the redwood siding on our midcentury modern home. Molly did an excellent job of listening to our needs and desires, and then developing a plan that would enhance the curb appeal and increase the safety of our home. Her design respected the style of the house but gave it a unique flair. She connected us with a contractor who was as pleasant to work with as she was. Molly was easy to reach when a question was raised or a decision needed to be made – by us or by one of the contractor’s crews.
