“John took our ideas for a new kitchen extension and developed the plans and proposal so that we gained planning permission without any issues. John also attended the parish council planning meeting to ensure there were no issues at this stage. With his help and guidance a specification was developed from which we were able to have a number of contractors bid, going on to select one to complete the build. Although we knew exactly what we wanted out of this project we initially had trouble engaging builders before we started working with John, due to the unusual construction methods being used. We had previously done some research into architects/ designers to help us get something we really love, but found that they were hugely expensive and required a commitment to do the whole job for it to be worth their while. We came across residence, and it was exactly what we were looking for - a simple and cost effective way to get some great design advice upfront at the first stage of the process, without having to commit to a huge project, allowing us to explore and test different ideas, with really thoughtful touches that accommodate our specific needs/ the way we use our space. The whole process was done from our home through videos, emails and over the phone, which made it very convenient, and I was amazed by how much detail and accuracy could be gleaned in this way. residence has also helped guide us through the sorts of considerations we would need to think about if taking the project forward with regard to building regulations and planning permission, and the level of structural works required for different options, even contacting the Council on our behalf. This has been enormously helpful and time saving. We have decided to take forward one of the ideas we discussed with residence, and will be working with residence on the next stage of detail to get the level of aesthetic finish we know we wouldn't be able to achieve on our own. This whole process has really given us the confidence that we will end up with a beautiful space that works for us, and within our budget. We would highly recommend.”
